Working with Laetitia on these plates was a joy. Her contemporary presence, her tattoos, her strength, meets the historic voice of the Kodak 8×10 view camera and Dallmeyer 3A lens. Studio flash became the bridge between centuries, shaping silver and glass into something both old and new.

I love sharing this process in my workshops, not only the alchemy of plates and chemistry, but also the gentle craft of working with models: building trust, shaping light, and finding those moments where something timeless appears.

The Three Phases of Smoking.

While wandering through the old town of Vannes, on our way to the Brittany coast, I heard that this series, made with the brilliant , will be featured in , Issue 20.

Shot with an 8x10, using wet plate collodion, the images are hand-crafted, slow, physical, and unpredictable. Working with was a real pleasure; she brought calm and presence to the process and a lot of patience.

Here's a portrait of Amélia, captured using the 8x10 wet plate collodion process. I absolutely love working with this technique! It's a lot of work—every step requires such care and attention—but the results are incredibly rewarding. The rich, detailed images that emerge from this process have a timeless quality that you just can't achieve with modern methods. There's something so magical about seeing the image slowly come to life on the glass plate, knowing that each one is truly unique. It’s a labor of love, but the payoff is worth every moment of effort!

This was a fun shoot. I met up with Manon and Raban a short while ago, they were doing a re-enactment at a Medieval Chateau down here in the Dordogne.
They very kindly came over to the studio for an afternoons shoot.

Had a great afternoon with Albastra shooting with wet plate collodion. Pride before the fall but I feel I'm slowly beginning to understand this wonderful process. Working with a creative and professional model certainly helps. Thank you Gaëlle.

This was an interesting project, I hadn't done much of this high speed work before, it was actually remarkably simple, a couple of triggers, fast flash and in the bag so to speak.

Thanks to the wonderful Vanderveken Garage in Brussels I was able to shoot a bunch of these drivers seat images. This is a Lincoln Continental. Just awesome, I wish they still made cars like this now.

Cadillac, I loved shooting for Cadillac, their cars are just a dream to shoot.
This was out in LA, I was living in Santa Barbara at the time if I've got my dates right. Happy Days.

These shoots were such a treat, when we were first let loose, it was exactly that, creative freedom, great support from the agency and client. Such a whirlwind, so much fun. Sadly, as with most things these days the element of client control took over and things got quite a bit creatively tighter. Still, great shoots, great people. The model, sadly don't remember his name but was definitely one of the best I worked with, awesome !
