I’ve been going back a fourth to this forest for wildlife photography for the past 7 years.
This summer I photographed the exact places I used to to go, in order to photograph the deer rut, completely wiped out by the flames. Environmental issues aren’t just for the arctic, the mountains or other countries it’s for all of us. This earth will make it with or without us, so let’s make sure we have a world we can still live in, because our current politicians clearest don’t have the same objectives…

Here’s what I can tell you after documenting the wildfires in Gironde, I’ve seen people who lost their homes, military base burning, forest turning to ashes with firefighters at war not being able to control it. But what struck me most was how much humanity I’ve seen.

I thought people had turned selfish, not caring for one another and yet here everyone cheered me, everyone was overly nice, people that had lost their homes wanted to feel listened to and understood.

Firefighters were nice and let me work easily while special forces gave them water, the police and military protecting vacant homes from thieves while people were displaced.

I feel bad for people here, but I feel good knowing that humanity still exists amongst people, so let’s not wait for a disaster to show it off… it’s still free to be nice 😉

Oh and don’t worry the environmental speech is for the next post 🥲
