~ The Classic - III ~

Here's another classic from the last trip. This place needs no introduction. Locally nicknamed "La dame de fer", The Eiffel Tower is a world-famous icon. Its true beauty can only be witnessed during the evening as the city of Paris starts to illuminate, and the grandeur of the Eiffel Tower sparkles with the lights!

~ A fine evening at Lake Zurich ~

Nothing crazy here, just a regular lakeside view of Zurich with swans playing in the foreground and Fraumünster Church in the background, yet it makes for a great photo op.

~ The Classic - II ~

The Zaanse Schans is a residential area in the Zaan region in which the 18th and 19th centuries are brought to life and the historical buildings are all in unique timber architecture. The Zaanse Schans is explored on foot and when you take in the unique peat meadow landscape you are surrounded by stunning buildings. There are numerous demonstrations such as cheese-making, wooden shoe-making, woodworking, liqueur distilling, and pewter casting. This image is of a famous cheese-making workshop and shop Henri Willig Kaas.

~ Matterhorn ~

The Matterhorn, the king of mountains, is the most-photographed mountain in the world. It is a myth and emblem for Alpinists and photographers alike, as well as Switzerland’s most famous landmark and symbol. Shaped like a jagged tooth, it straddles the main watershed and border between Switzerland and Italy.

This image was taken at Lake Stellisee, which is among the most famous of Zermatt’s lakes. The sight of the Matterhorn reflected on its mirror-like surface is breathtakingly beautiful, and is made for magnificent photographs.

~ From Pilatus ~

Maker of weather, dragon's lair, home to giants, and grave of rulers: Lucerne's very own mountain, Pilatus, is one of the most legendary places in Central Switzerland. And one of the most beautiful. On a clear day, the mountain offers a panoramic view of 73 Alpine peaks.

The mountain can be reached from Lucerne by gondola lift and aerial cable car and from Alpnachstad with the world's steepest Cogwheel Railway. This photograph is not of Mt Pilatus but taken from the Pilatus overlooking another peak with Cogwheel Railway - seen on the left.

~ A Dreamscape ~

The Kleine Scheidegg is a mountain pass at an elevation of 2,061 m (6,762 ft), situated below and between the Eiger and Lauberhorn peaks in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. The Kleine Scheidegg railway station (partly visible behind the house in the middle right part of the image) is sited at the summit of the pass. The station is the lower terminus of the Jungfrau Railway, which climbs steeply through tunnels inside the Eiger and Mönch mountains up to its terminal at the Jungfraujoch, the highest point reachable by rail in Europe.

It is among the most celebrated mountain passes in the Swiss Alps because of its position just north of the point where the Bernese Alps makes a salient angle, whose apex is the Eiger. Looks like a place from a dream or fantasy!

~ The Classic - I ~

Probably the most photographed location of Amsterdam. How could I resist not capturing this cliché shot?

Some facts about Amsterdam's canals: There are more than 160 canals in Amsterdam. Combined, the Amsterdam canals are over 100 kilometers long. Most of the Amsterdam canals were built in the 17th century, during the Dutch Golden Age. There are more than 1,700 bridges in Amsterdam. The historic canal belt is one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. Amsterdam canals separate the city of Amsterdam into 90 different islands.

It was refreshing visiting this city after 15 years and reconnecting with the memories of few months I spent here that time.

~ Down the Memory Lane ~

The Hobbiton was a significant location used for The Lord of the Rings film trilogy and The Hobbit film trilogy. It is situated on a family-run farm near Matamata, in Waikato, New Zealand, and is now a Tolkien tourism destination.

Visiting this place surely brought up early college days nostalgia. Very recently I've worked on these images, taken back in 2019.

~ Chasing Lights ~

It's been a while I've posted any Landscape images, I kind of took a break it seems. Not to mention there's nothing new in my bag since I literally haven't shot anything for more than a year now. Let's hope this changes soon.

Here's one of those images I took in Lofoten Islands - Norway, one of my first encounters with The Northern Lights in my life. The memory of this place is still fresh as dew, I can feel those lights and atmosphere around me as I'm writing this.
