One month ago, before leaving Cambodia, I photographed O’Russey Market in Phnom Penh.
Last night, I dreamt I was there again. Walking through familiar paths, I met again the people I came to love, and for a moment I was able to relive that life. The light was the same, warm, fragile, almost unreal, as if nothing had changed.
Nostalgia comes quietly, without warning. It doesn’t always feel heavy; sometimes it appears in small flashes, in dreams, in colors, in faces that return when you least expect them.
I thought this time it would be easier to leave. Instead, I realize how deeply Cambodia has stayed with me. My heart is still there, attached to those moments, to that light, to that sense of belonging I didn’t know I would miss so much.
These images are a fragment of that goodbye, but also of that return that only memory and dreams can allow, for now.
