Just back from the magical opening weekend of Images Vevey ✨
Now in its 10th edition, under the theme “We are family!”, it fills the town with photography en plein air, major international artists alongside emerging talent. The first immense banner greeting you opposite the train station always makes arriving feel like a big event. This year, a moving ode to Martin Parr photographed by Siân Davey in her series “The Garden” (2021–2023).
What impresses me each time is how the festival works with the town. Some spaces return, some are newly found, some no longer there, so the festival shapes the town, and the town shapes the festival. The works that stay with you are always the ones that meet their location, conceptually and visually.
This year, for me: Lucia Koch’s “Fundos” on the façade of the former prison, an empty cardboard box opening onto a glimpse of sky. Carceral walls meeting the childlike poetry of a hut, with a play of scale and trompe l’œil transports you.
50 projects, 21 countries, discovered as you turn a corner or walk the shore of Lac Léman. Congrats Stefano Stoll , the Images team, & all the artists 👏
Runs through September - the perfect festival to visit en famille. Don’t miss it!
