UPDATE ON LAB
People have been asking about what's going on with the lab so I figured I'd give a quick update. Our original plan was to reopen in 2020 but a certain little virus and the resulting cost of living crisis came and scuppered our plans. We do still intend on reopening however our plans have changed significantly since then. Photoghost will be reborn as a non-profit social enterprise with the aim of providing a low cost digital maker space to Aberdeen as well as taking on a new mission of providing help and support to neurodivergent kids as they progress through school and into adulthood by using digital creative technologies as a means of developing key life skills whilst leveraging the unique talents and special interests of these remarkable kids. We're developing programmes that include photography, videography, animation, 3D design/printing, music production, live streaming, laser cutting/engraving etc.
Alongside these we are also developing some Youtube channels - a Photoghost channel covering all things photography, a channel aimed at education in neurodiversity and a broader, more creative channel designed to expand our audience and (hopefully) attract some of that sweet, sweet Patreon money. It is my hope that with enough Patrons we can not only help more of these kids but also offset the costs of running the lab and reduce prices of all printing and developing services making them far more accessible. Ideally I'd like to get to the point where all lab services are essentially free for members buuuut I'm getting ahead of myself.
At the moment I have no timescale on when the lab will reopen. I've got a lot on my plate at the moment developing all these ideas, taking on training courses and such not to mention my responsibilities as a father. There's also the ever present problem of money (or lack thereof) during these turbulent economic times. But I've put together an excellent team, progress is being made and the work is incredibly rewarding. I'll share more info when the time is right. In the meantime please enjoy this picture of Frozil our new mascot.
Have fun, be jolly,
Ennan
