K I N G F I S H E R | Minutes can turn into hours, watching the river in complete silence, wondering if today will be the day. Then, without warning, a brilliant streak of electric blue skims inches above the water, and before you’ve even had time to process it… it’s gone.

This time, I was lucky.

For just a few precious seconds, our paths crossed. Long enough to witness one of Britain’s most spectacular birds in its own world, before it disappeared around the bend as quickly as it arrived.

D U N N O C K | Not every memorable encounter comes with a rare bird or dramatic action.

Sometimes it’s a little Dunnock in a quiet, hidden garden.

Tucked away from the noise of the world, this tiny bird hopped between the old stone walls and tangled shrubs, completely absorbed in its own little world. It wasn’t flashy or colourful like some of our more famous garden visitors, but it had a quiet confidence that made me stop and appreciate the moment.

Moments like this are why I keep going back into the woods. Wildlife photography isn’t about luck; it’s about patience, understanding behaviour, and being ready when nature decides to give you a gift.

K I N G F I S H E R | A beautiful evening watching the kingfisher searching for its dinner. First you hear it, then you see the blue and orange flash and then a little character like this pops up out in front. Definitely one of my favourite little creatures to watch.
