I still remember it clearly. The moment I held my own baby for the first time and thought , I need to remember this. Not just remember it. Keep it. Every tiny feature, every little detail, because I knew that in just a few weeks, they would already look completely different.
That feeling is exactly why I photograph newborns.
There is something about the first days with a new baby that is impossible to fully describe. The weight of them in your arms. The way they curl into you like they already know you. The features that are so uniquely, perfectly theirs, and so fleeting.
I have been capturing these moments for families across Northern Ireland for 12 years. And I still feel it every single time I pick up my camera in those first days of a baby’s life.
