Focusing bracketing, also known as focus stacking, is nothing new – it's been around for many years as a post-production technique. In 2019, Canon introduced the ability to do this in-camera. First found on the EOS RP camera, it's now available on most R-series mirrorless cameras, as well as the EOS M6 Mark II and EOS 90D. It can be used to great effect for macro subjects, but also more creatively for less common subjects, like this interior shot. Shot with EOS R6 Mark II, RF 100mm f2.8L Macro IS USM lens.
Here's a guide (link in comments) to how to set up the in-camera feature for best results or, if it's not available on your model, some pointers for how to focus stack manually and merge in post-production. Canon's free Digital Photo Professional software has a Depth compositing feature for images shot with the EOS 5D Mark IV and EOS R; alternatively both Photoshop and Lightroom have offered the feature since 2008.
