An incredible night of music with , complemented perfectly by as her supporting artist. I’ve loved Thea since hearing her third album, Rules For Jokers, back in 2001. When I heard she was playing a gig in my village, I couldn’t believe my luck.
Hard to believe that Thea had lost her voice just a week ago - tonight, it was pure and transcendent as she ran through a faultless playlist of familiar and new songs. Self-described modestly as ‘nicely packaged misery’, there’s always been a wealth of hope and connection in what she does - technically brilliant certainly (no gremlins tonight), but never losing the genuine warmth you hear during and between the music. No self-deprecation necessary; the audience loved being a part of one of her closing numbers, The Bright Service. Well done, all!
