Fancy a walk that doesn't cost you a bahh-gain? 🐑 (One pun, that's your lot.)
Eastrop Park sits right on the edge of Basingstoke town centre, just a few minutes from Festival Place, so there's no excuse not to stretch your legs on a lunch break.
The boating lake at its centre sits on the site of an old mill pond, and these days it's home to ducks, swans and the odd kingfisher if you're lucky. From there, follow the Basingstoke Canal Heritage Footpath out through Basing Fen. It's a two-mile route tracing the old 1794 canal all the way to the ruins of Basing House.
There's a tree trail if you fancy something shorter, a boathouse café for when you don't, and a cycle path running straight through if walking isn't quite your speed.
September's a good month for it too, quieter than the school holidays and still mild enough for an evening stroll after work.
