The boat trip I’d 100% book again in Sardinia ⚓️🇮🇹
If you’re staying on the north-east coast of Sardinia, Tavolara & Molara boat tour should be on your list🔝
This was one of my favourite days of our trip - turquoise water, dramatic cliffs, little coves, swimming stops and that feeling of being completely surrounded by the Mediterranean💙
⛰️ Tavolara is the dramatic one - a huge limestone island rising straight from the sea, with incredible views as you approach it by boat. It feels wild and completely different from spending the day on Sardinia’s beaches.
🐠 Molara was one of my favourite parts of the day. The water around the island is unbelievably clear, making it perfect for swimming and snorkelling🤿
🛥️ My biggest recommendation: book a small-group boat trip rather than trying to see the islands independently. You’ll get to explore several swimming spots and coves that are much easier to reach from the water.
📍 Where to go from: Porto San Paolo is one of the most convenient starting points for Tavolara, especially if you’re staying around Budoni or San Teodoro.
⏰ Go for a full-day trip if you can. There’s something special about not rushing between swimming stops and having enough time to simply enjoy being out on the water🩵
🌊 Check the wind forecast before booking. The sea conditions can make a huge difference to the experience, especially if you’re travelling with children.
👶 Travelling with kids? Choose your boat carefully. A smaller boat can be more intimate and fun, but make sure there’s enough shade, easy access to the water and a comfortable setup for little ones.
🧴 Bring: sunscreen, a hat, water, swimwear, towels and a waterproof phone case. And definitely bring your snorkel if you have one! 🤿
📸 Keep your camera ready as you approach Tavolara - the views from the water are spectacular😍
It was one of those days that made us understand why Sardinia is so special🫶🏻
📌 Save this for your Sardinia trip 🇮🇹
