Saturday 7th October I had a departure from my usual photo subject and attended Warstone Lane Cemetery for a ceremony of returning the spirit of a young Aboriginal lad to his homeland, his name was Warrulan, born in Moorundie, South Australia, near the river Murray, he was just around 10 years old when he was brought to England in 1844, he worked at Middlemore Saddles where he contracted pneumonia and died before making his wish to return home to his Mother land and his father, Tenburr, who was the leader of of the Ngaiawarg people, Warrulan died just 19 years old in 1855. The three dots you will see on the forehead of some of the participants of the day represent Birmingham, the Murray river and Warrulan himself.

Great day at Cannock Homefront yesterday good to meet up with some old friends.

Why not join us at Warstone Cemetery (B18 6NN) 9th September for the Birmingham Heritage day. come and meet the Victorians, promenading the cemetery as they would have done in in the day when Birmingham was a dirty smoky city and this is the nearest place the citizens would get to the country side and fresh air.
(Accessible from, Warstone Lane or Icknield Street or Vyse Street)
