With the River Severn running through the middle of Worcester, you can imagine that there are numerous water sports going on throughout the year.
Today I placed myself on the Sabrina footbridge that crosses the river just a few meters downstream from Worcester Rowing Club.
Watching these beautiful boats appear below you does give good 'photo opportunities.
There was a large championship going on today with clubs - as far as I could tell - from across the Midlands.
Now, my sport is dinghy sailing and I have almost no knowledge of rowing, though I am aware that rowing is all about teamwork and co-ordination.
There were so many teams participating in the races, though I did spot this team of ladies who seemed to be in complete unison with one another. I hope you agree.

COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL
Warehouses feature quite regularly in my work as a commercial and industrial photographer.
It is sometimes quite challenging, and utimately rewarding, to portray the building - inside and out - to convey the feeling of large areas of space.
This one in the north-west of Birmingham was very new and in a large new industrial estate.
IMHO it was planned really well and fitted nicely into the surrounding countryside. The new trees and plants on the estate should mature rather well and cover any unsitely buildings in the coming years.
That, of course, has nothing to do with my work. I have to produce images that are pleasing to my client.
Approxiately 24 hi-res .jpg images were sent to my client, with just a few shown here.

NIKE
From an agency in Denmark came the request to photograph a new store of the famous Nike brand.
It was up in Manchester and was easily accessible being just off the M6.
Their client wanted the resultant images to be shown without any special effects - infact as a potential customer would see it.
I duly obliged and sent them a couple of dozen 'photos both with and without customers in the shots.
The only real alterations in Photoshop (of course) was a little tweeking of the colour balance and one or two improvement to the 'converging verticals'. Apart from that it turned out to be fairly straightforward.
IT'S GREAT BEING A PHOTOGRAPHER.

Always carry a camera with you.
Infact, most people do nowadays in the form of a smartphone or other small device.
Capturing this 'critical moment' was taken on my 'real camera' a NIKON dslr and it was just fortunate that I was walking on the Sabrina Bridge, Worcester at the very moment these two came so close to one another.
Note: The Sabrina Bridge is located adjacent Worcester Racecourse (Pitchcroft) and links with Hyton Road on the other side of the River Severn.
It is all part of the Severn Walkway which is well worth visiting if you ever come to Worcester.
For anyone out there who knows me I can confirm that I am now domicile in Worcester after 38 years in Birmingham.

Back in February of this year I was asked to attend a conference for the National Network of CDOPS (medical people!) at Tally Ho! in Edgbaston.
For this type of work - and I have photographed hundreds over the years - it is essential to produce 'photos where the subjects are happy or are ernestly engrossed in participating in the event.
Every speaker at the lecturn(s) must be photographed, and groups between the lectures are also always required to be photographed.
Ensure all batteries are fully charged and you have two of everything - cameras, lenses etc. - as you don't have a second chance.
This particular conference lasted all day and was none too large in terms of delegates attending and these are usually the most enjoyable.

As sailing is my favourite sport, it was a delight that I was contacted by the Royal Yachting Association to take some 'photos for them at one of the largest sailing clubs in the UK at Rutland.
I was required for two days, the first being that of obtaining images of youngsters on a week long course - it was during the Easter holidays in April - and the following day it was an all women affair.
An instructor kept the ladies in line.
Fortunately, the weather was fine for both the sailors and myself.
If there is one word of advice I can give to anyone anticipating sailing photography it is always, ALWAYS take out a couple of towels with you onboard your own boat.
Cameras are not waterproof and you don't need high winds to create water splashing onto your expensive photographic gear. Accidents can happen at any time.
I did enjoy both days.
IT'S GREAT FUN BEING A PHOTOGRAPHER.
