The Mayor of Bridgwater, Cllr Kathy Pearce, was pleased to officially open Bridgwater History Day at Bridgwater Arts Centre on Saturday 8 November.

From fascinating talks and musical interludes the day was packed with interesting topics that sparked curiosity and conversation.

Cllr Pearce was thrilled to see such a fantastic turnout and the enthusiasm from everyone who attended.

‼️UPDATE ON BATH ROAD & WESTONZOYLAND ROAD MOTORWAY BRIDGES‼️

Please see below email I have just received detailing next steps.

“Thank you for your patience and engagement on this. By way of update, we will be attending site tonight in order to carry out the necessary make safe works to allow us to remove the traffic signals on both structures. Subject to these works not uncovering any unforeseen safety risks the signals will be removed on both structures by tomorrow morning – I will confirm this with a further update tomorrow.

We will need to attend both sites again in order to carry out further repairs, likely in late August, but the above will allow traffic to safely use the structures without signals in the meantime. I will let you know once a date is sorted for this work – for your awareness this is likely to involve 1 overnight closure on each structure.”

📢🚨 Update on Travellers at Parkway Park 📢🚨

This is the latest update I’ve received regarding the unlawful encampment at Parkway Park.

Police and Somerset Council officers have made several visits to the site over the past two days. A notice to leave and welfare forms were issued on Wednesday, and officers returned today to issue a formal Section 77 direction to leave under the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act.

If the site hasn’t been vacated by 2pm tomorrow the Council will prepare and submit a court application for possession. A hearing date will then be set, with the date depending on court availability.
