TOMORROW NIGHT — PICTURE THIS: A PUBLIC IMAGE AT PINK MOON! 📸🖤

After three previous Brighton exhibitions, Picture This: A Public Image returns to the city tomorrow — this time at Pink Moon.

Join me from 7–11pm for the opening of my exhibition of previously unseen photographs taken in London venues between 1978–1980.

John Lydon. The Clash. Blondie. The Cramps. PIL. Sham 69. Madness. The Selecter. The Specials. The Undertones — and plenty more.

Photographs from the clubs, gigs and subculture surrounding the explosion of punk, post-punk and alternative music at the end of the 1970s.

After three previous Brighton exhibitions, Picture This: A Public Image returns to Brighton tomorrow — and this time we’re heading to Pink Moon.

Join me for the opening party from 7pm–11pm.

The exhibition features previously unseen photographs taken in London venues between 1978–1980, including John Lydon, The Clash, Blondie, The Cramps, Public Image Ltd, Sham 69, Madness, The Selecter, The Specials, The Undertones and many more.

The photographs capture the gigs, clubs and subculture surrounding the explosion of punk, post-punk and alternative music at the end of the 1970s — including artists from both sides of the Atlantic and beyond.

On Friday and Saturday we’ve got two very special stripped-down sets from The Clubheads and Kitchen Lover. Come check out the exhibition, catch some live music, and yes — before anyone asks — the boys in the bands do actually strip down. Not completely though, this isn’t Chippendales. Or do they? 🤔😉

PICTURE THIS: A PUBLIC IMAGE
A collection of previously unseen photographs taken in L.A. venues from 1978-1980

Event information:
The exhibition will run for five days - 12th-16th of May consisting of previously unseen images taken in L.A. by Spike from ‘78-’80 featuring:

Blondie, John Lydon & PiL, The Clash, Madness, The Specials, The Selector, Sham 69, The Undertones, The Go-Go's, John Cale, The Cramps, X and many more.

It will also cover the extraordinary life of the photographer Spike who also briefly worked as a paparazzo in Hollywood and has dedicated his time to activism and promotion of punk bands and punk ideology.

A selection of 40 previously unseen prints will be on show along with Spike’s personal archive of contact sheets, zines, magazine covers, record releases and images from his life in LA and San Francisco’s anarchist, punk and q***r scenes.

There will be a programme of performances from the best of Brighton’s emerging bands throughout the week and will culminate on Sunday the 17th with a free alt escape gig at "The Garageland Escape" at Daltons on Brighton seafront from 12pm- midnight.
The exhibition will tour other venues in the UK and abroad from August 2026 – details to follow.

The book and unframed & signed affordable prints and original photographs will be available to purchase throughout the week.
