Soho & a slow shutter is always a winning combo 🙌 look for back light and moving subjects, if your camera has it, tracking can help or keep the focus area small. Back button focus is the only way 🙌

Shop and restaurant windows are one of my favourite ways to capture people! I use other people, window displays/frames and other visual clutter to dirty up the foreground. TOP TIP: Don’t look for people, look for lonely pockets of light 🔦

Covent Garden is a grail for street photography 🙏

85mm is one of my favourite focal lengths 📷

There’s just something about the way it sees a scene. Tight enough to simplify the frame, but still wide enough to tell a story.

I find it forces me to be more selective too. Instead of photographing everything, I’m looking for details, gestures, light, and moments that stand out from the chaos.

A rare black and white set. 🖤

I don’t shoot monochrome very often, but every now and then a scene just feels stronger without the distraction of colour.

For me, black and white has always been more about light, contrast, shape, and timing. Strip everything else away and you’re left with the moment itself.

Embracing the blur 😵‍💫

Street photography doesn’t always have to be sharp, perfect, or technically flawless.

Sometimes mistakes or intentional imperfections are what makes the image. Sometimes it’s the missed focus, the movement, or the imperfections that make a photo feel more real.

These frames won’t be for everyone, but that’s kind of the point. 🖤

Not street photography for a change. 🎥📷

As much as I love wandering cities with a camera, I think it’s important to shoot other things too.

Portraits, videos, events, landscapes… every genre teaches you something different. You learn new ways to use light, compose a frame, direct people, and tell stories.

It’s also a great excuse to meet some incredible people along the way.

Most of what I shoot is still street photography, and probably always will be, but stepping outside your comfort zone every now and then can make you a better photographer overall. 🖤

I’ve always been drawn to leading lines and centred compositions. Something about the symmetry makes the chaos of the city feel a little more organised.

Lost tip: if you’re struggling to find leading lines, stop looking at people and moving subjects and start looking at the static objects, architecture. Roads, tunnels, bridges, platforms, railings, and road makings can all guide the viewer’s eye straight to your subject.
