I wasn't going to capture this mural of Paul O'Grady as I was passing, but Lily's eyes followed me as I passed it and I had to capture that stare. Legend of a man.

I played out out all last night, gathering images for my war memorials, monuments assignment, (just a quick stop for a Christmas dinner this year.) For the first time I got a close up view of the Birkenhead "old boys" institute war memorial on the schools former location. It didn't disappoint. When the school closed in the 90's somebody labelled it as a war memorial due to one of its famous students, war poet Wilfred Owen attending there. A very fitting monument to the fallen and to Owen himself. Just like the Tommy statue in Seaham, its good to see modern 21st century memorials maintaining the standards of these memorials and not entering into the modern way of thinking design wise. The detail on this monument is epic.

1st Thursday Christmas Maritime Networking, December 2025.
Hosted by Propeller Club Liverpool & North West, at Baby E Coffee & Deli, Dale Street Liverpool, and kindly sponsored by FORT Recruitment.
That was quick? December networking, a turbot whizzing the proceeding year away at breakneck speed.
December Maritime Networking, an early port of call for many events and activities during the festive season for our members. With Fort Recruitment sponsoring this months event. We were warmed by Co-owner Ian Buckley's passionate speech centering on the togetherness of the club, and how as seperate businesses and organisations, we are all one, together, inspiring stuff.
The night was filled with the usual, seasonal atmosphere you would expect in December as the year draws to an end.
The Propeller Club Liverpool & North West were the proud winners of the Business Enablers Award at the prestigious Mersey Maritime Business Awards at The Anglican Cathedral in November, and very well deserved too, Anneley, who recieved the award on behalf of the club brought the trophy along for the members to have their pictures taken with it, these pictures are included in the album.
It was a great day for myself personally, I got to meet world reknown documentary photographer Craig Easton after he delivered a seminar to the second and third year photography students at university, after a chat with him a purchased his book, "Fisherwomen," for which he posted to me yesterday, then, as if it could not get better, Propellerist, Dr Emma Roberts, gifted me with a book authored by herself and Edward Morris based on public sculptures around Cheshire and Merseyside, A topic that forms the bulk of my final year at University, So, many thanks again, Emma, this book will really expand on my ideas for this project going forward.
It's a long one, so much to cover. It's been another fantastic year for Maritime networking with so many success stories and I hope that continues for you all in 2026. On a personal note, and again, I cannot thank you all enough for raising the money for me to visit New York with my fellow creatives from the University of Chester, in February last. It still feels surreal and it provided me with an experience and memories to last a lifetime. I have to go back, so, if you would visit my Go-Fun............ Just kidding 😜 I will do this.
Have a great Christmas and A prosperous New Year, Y'all.
See you in February, if not on the glorious 19th.

Liverpool Marine Engineers' and Naval Architects' Guild, Plumbers Ball 2025. Held at Adelphi Hotel Liverpool.
Oh what a night it was. This vast space of many rooms filled with the voices of the sea, chatting and bantering the night away, (much to the dismay of the Master of Ceremonies from time to time 😄) But there is no stopping this crowd, they wait an entire year to be gathered enmass like this in Liverpool, and words need to be spoken. It all went well, everybody was happy and enjoying the nights event, then came Steven Jones, the evenings guest speaker and what a speech it was, in fact it made the Kings speech sound like a Princely chat, it was epic, and as I believe, this event marks the beginning of festive activities in the Maritime sector and that atmosphere was there to be absorbed. So well done to John Pope and everyone else who helped to organise this great event once again. It was great to see you all.
This is an album telling the story of the nights events, with more to follow.
