Mr Smith Aerial Welcome to Mr Smith Aerial, the website of aerial film and photographer Andy Smith. I have worked with and supplied footage and photography for various clients.

Mr Smith Aerial provides commercial drone photography and videography for brands, agencies, and organisations. Welcome to Mr Smith Aerial, the page of drone pilot, aerial filmmaker and photographer Andy Smith. I am a CAA approved UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) pilot with A2 CofC and GVC licenses. I am able to operate in both the open and specific commercial drone flying categories. I have spent the

I use two great drones. The Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom. A great pair of nimble, flexible, high tech machines. Both shoot film in 4K and stills in RAW. I try to approach every aerial project with an Art Directors' eye. I am interested in making beautiful films, capturing extraordinary points of view and perspectives, and composing stunning images. I enjoy working with directors, or directing myself.

Congratulations to Guillermo Del Toro’s epic movie Frankenstein scooping three Oscars last night, including Best Production Design, and being nominated for a further six including best cinematography.

I may not have been on the red carpet last night, but I felt a lot like Frankenstein’s monster after spending several days freezing my testicles off capturing drone footage for the movie at Seacliff beach in East Lothian.

Top tech for drones? It’s not a filter, a lens, an app or anything like that. It’s the right gloves.

These ones are warm, fingerless, and most importantly thumbless. So you can just pop out your thumbs and keep the rest warm whilst flying.

There’s a wee sealable flap on the back too where you can slide in a hand warmer, I use ones.

I can’t tell you the name unfortunately as they’re unbranded, and were a gift. But they’re the best for cold weather drone operations.
