Those little eyes. 🥹

One of my favourite things about photographing babies around their first birthday is how much personality is already there.

They are still so little, but they are watching everything, learning constantly and taking in the world around them.

And yes, mum was never far away.

That familiar voice, that reassuring cuddle and simply knowing she was right there made such a difference. Especially when the weather decided it was not going to cooperate with our lovely summer plans!

one of those gorgeous little faces that make you want to freeze time. 🤍

This is exactly why I love photographing babies at one.

They are changing by the day, discovering more, becoming more independent and showing you more and more of who they are.

A year ago, everything was new.

Now he has favourite foods, favourite toys, favourite people and a whole little personality of his own.

What a lovely thing it is to stop for a moment and photograph this version of him before he grows into the next one.

Strawberries require serious concentration apparently. 🍓😂

I really wanted to include moments like this in his first birthday photographs because turning one is not just about the big milestone.

It is about all those tiny things that suddenly feel so new.

The way little fingers explore food. The curiosity. The concentration. The little pause before taking a bite.

These are the things you do not realise you will miss until they are gone.

A one year old, a watermelon, a spoon and absolutely no idea what to make of any of it 😂🍉

I love this age because everything still feels like an adventure.

Even something as simple as sitting in front of a watermelon becomes a proper little experience. A new texture, a new taste, a new object to investigate and, of course, a spoon that must be picked up immediately.

And while he was busy figuring it all out, everyone he knows and loves was close by. Just in case he needed a cuddle or a little reset.

There is something so lovely about watching a one year old discover food.

The colour, the smell, the texture, the very serious little investigation before deciding whether it is actually worth eating 😂🍓

This fruit smash was completely led by him. There was no expectation to dive straight in and make a giant mess. He could look, touch, squish, taste and explore at his own pace.

And that is exactly how I like these sessions to be.

One year old already! 🥹

I just met this lovely boy and his family when he was a newborn! he was so young I remember asking what colour his eyes were! now look at those gorgeous happy eyes!

His mum wanted something a little different from the usual cake smash, so we went for a lovely summery fruit smash instead. 🍓🍉🍊

And honestly, this little face discovering everything for the first time was just perfect.

That is one of the things I love most about photographing little ones at home. We do not have to rush anything. His favourite toys, lots of cuddles and all his familiar people were right there, ready whenever he needed them.

Sometimes the best photographs happen when we simply give them time. 🤍

feeding your baby can absolutely be part of your newborn photographs.

There is no need to stop what you are doing because it is “photo time”.

Some of the most meaningful photographs are created while you are simply being Mum.

Feeding, cuddling, settling, looking down at your baby.

These are the moments that make up your days now, and they are worth remembering too.

The little details change so quickly.

Those tiny feet, the wrinkles, the soft skin, the tiny fingers.

And you don’t need a perfectly sleepy baby for me to photograph them.

I can capture these details while your baby is awake, feeding, being cuddled or simply lying comfortably at home.

There is no rushing to get through a list of poses.

We have time to notice the little things.

You might have spent the last few weeks thinking about getting through the day.

Feed. Change. Cuddle. Repeat.

So when you book your newborn session with me, I don’t expect you to arrive somewhere perfectly organised with a beautifully dressed baby.

I come to your home.

You already have the nappies, clothes, feeds, blankets and everything else your baby needs right there.

And yes, we can even change baby’s outfit during the session if you’d like a little variety.

One less thing to worry about.

What happens if your baby needs changing halfway through the session?

Nothing dramatic.

We stop.

What if she needs feeding?

We stop.

What if she falls asleep in your arms and you don’t want to move her?

We photograph that instead.

Your baby’s routine doesn’t need to fit around the photography session. The photography session fits around your baby.

That is one of the biggest advantages of choosing a newborn photographer who comes to your home.
