West Wilts yesterday for Tatti’s BE90 debut! 🎉

Tatti stepped up for her first BE90 and came away with a 33.8 dressage. If I’m honest, it felt worse than the score suggested, so I was pleasantly surprised when the marks came through!

A frustrating tap of a pole in the showjumping, but she felt the most rideable she ever has in this phase. It’s taken time, but things are really starting to click and come together now. Anthony Perkins 🙏

Then onto the cross country, where she gave me an absolutely mega ride. Clear inside the time and I genuinely couldn’t stop smiling the whole way round. She felt brave, genuine and up for the job from start to finish.

A really special day with a horse that keeps improving every time she goes out. Huge thank you to Rosie for coming along and supporting us ❤️

Excited to see what the rest of the season has in store for this one!

Super girl yesterday at Hazelton Manor.

Improved dressage for a 36, rolled one pole SJ and then Tatti made the XC feel very easy with a super clear round inside the time 💫

She felt incredible and like she’s really starting to understand the job now. A very enjoyable day all round.

Stepping up to our first 90 today and coming home with a double clear feels pretty special 🎉

It’ll come as no surprise that Dressage wasn’t our strongest phase, leaving us on a 40.3, some tense mistakes but she more than made up for it in the jumping.

Showjumping was spicy, but still completely rideable, and she gave me such a confidence-boosting round. Then onto cross country, which was a bold and technical track that caused plenty of problems throughout the class. There were 5 fences with black flag alternatives on offer, but we took every direct route and she was unbelievable, bold but manageable the whole way round. We just picked up a few time faults, but I couldn’t be happier to finish her first 90 with a double clear. Especially after seeing some of the event statistics.

One of the things that makes days like this even more special is getting the chance to run alongside riders at the very top of the sport. It’s pretty incredible to be out on course with people like Alex Bragg, who was competing at our local 5 star event Badminton Horse Trials just last week — and somehow today I not only chased him round the cross country, but also hacked back to the lorry park with him after dressage, chatting about how weird and interesting we are 😂

The best part though was sharing the day with my main little man. Everest and I have had the best day — all weathers in one afternoon, foot-long hot dogs, ice creams bigger than our heads, and absolute hysterical laughter just before showjumping. Days like these are what it’s all about: good horses, good company, and making memories while ticking off huge milestones.

So proud of Tatti today — stepping up a level and proving she belongs there.

A super fun and educational day for Tatti at Moreton Equestrian Centre, finishing 10th on a 39.5 🎉

She felt mega warming up for dressage - an unfortunate loose horse put a spanner in the works. I almost retired mid test (it was THAT awful) but the judge was incredibly sympathetic for a 35.5, then popped round the show jumping sweetly with just one pole. Cross country was unreal — confident, adjustable, and actually listened (who is she?!), cruising round clear inside the time.

Very proud of The Girl 😄

Just a little message to give a MASSIVE shoutout to our very own superstar who is running the London Marathon this Sunday 🏃‍♀️🔥

She honestly keeps so many of the cogs turning here at the farm – always grafting, always smiling, and somehow still finding the energy to take on 26.2 miles… absolute rockstar behaviour 🤩💪

She’s doing it all to raise money for a brilliant cause, so if you’re able to spare anything at all (or even just share the link), it would mean a huge amount! Link in the comments and stories.

“Progress, a clear round… and a swim to finish 💦”

So good to be back out eventing, and even better to do it alongside friends in the sunshine at Chard.

Tatti felt fantastic all day and gave me a really encouraging start to the season after I’ve been dithering for so long. Finally got the first one done ✅

Dressage produced a 34.8 — a little bit of Tatti-ness crept in, but she stayed rideable throughout and is starting to feel more established in the work. There were a few comments on the scores being marked harsh so a 34.8 seemed pretty respectable.

Showjumping was a big highlight with a lovely clear round. She was forward and positive without any of the usual over-discussion, which made a nice change… perhaps the music choice helped 😂 🎶Eye of the Tiger might be making a regular appearance at home.

We found ourselves sitting in 5th after showjumping, which felt like a great place to be on our debut event of the season.

Cross country started exactly how you’d hope — bold, keen and covering the ground. A bit change definitely helped with a bit more lift in front and some much-needed steering.

However… Tatti decided to add her own touch of flair 2 from home and launched herself into the water with such enthusiasm that I took an unscheduled swim 😂 It was all fairly spectacular — she may well have a future career in horse diving.

Despite the soggy ending, there’s plenty to be pleased with and lots to build on. One day it will all come together… in the meantime, still laughing 😆💦💦
