Ever wondered what it was like to ask the legendary Oracle of Apollo for advice? πŸ›οΈ
I travelled high into the mountains of Greece to visit Delphi – once believed to be the centre of the ancient world – and discovered myths, scandals, and stunning views that left me speechless.

From the mysterious Pythia to naked athletic games (yes, really!), this trip was like stepping straight into the pages of a Greek mythology book. πŸ“œ

πŸ’¬ If you could ask the Oracle one question… what would it be?

Ever been somewhere that made you feel like a kid reading mythology books again? Not long ago, I finally ticked Athens off my bucket list. Growing up, Greek mythology was required reading at school, and honestly? I loved those stories. Never thought I’d actually walk through Athens one day, but her...

At the end of January, we decided to visit Dubai. As proper Londoners who like to share, we brought with us rain. We heard that they don't have enough of it. Luckily for us, it had been raining only 2 days since we arrived.

Dubai is full of places to visit and activities to choose from, but one was stuck in my head.
Desert Safari is one of the main activities in UEA that you need to find a place on your have-to-do list. I could not leave Dubai without being on the ocean of sand. That could not happen.

We say the desert as it is one creation, but the truth is that many deserts exist in UAE. To give you a few examples;
β—Ž The Arabian Desert, also known as the Empty Quarter or Rub Al Khali - is located in the south-western portion of the UAE, within the emirate of Abu Dhabi
β—Ž Al Khatim Desert - located between Abu Dhabi and Al Ain
β—Ž Mleiha Desert- located in the central region of Sharjah.

Desert Safari is a pack of activities taking place in...desert.
What is included and the price depends on your chosen option.
Usually, that covers a dune-bashing, camel rides, horse rides, a picture with Falcone, quads ride, a dance show and a barbeque dinner.

We chose the option where in addition to the items listed above, was included overnight staying and buffet. It cost about 350 dirhams per person.

I am not going to lie. I was super excited. I am a person who usually does not show much emotion, but inside I was jumping for joy.

We were picked up from where we were staying on the activity day. The driver was friendly. The most annoying situation was when we paid for the activity, and he still needed to give us a change. After 30 minutes, he gave us half of the change because he decided he deserved the tip. Later, the same person organized other activities and stayed overnight. All that was included in the pack we paid for, and that driver still came to ask for more tips. My advice is to give the exact amount of money. It should be your decision if you give money and how much you want to give.

We spend around an hour in the car and reach our destination. We saw the camp and animals, but it was not time to leave the vehicle.

Our first activity was dune bashing. Dune bashing involves driving a 4x4 across the sandy dunes of the barren land.

Only specially qualified and skilled drivers can do this activity with tourists. Also, the car needs to be prepared for that before we can move on. So first, the driver let half of the air out of the tires, then coated the tires with oil.
After that prepared, we went to the dunes.

I did not expect what was to come...

My partner and I visited this fantastic place in February 2023. I was fascinated by the thought that I could visit a mosque. You can see a few posts about churches on my blog but never a mosque.

First, I would like to tell you a few things about this place.

The Mosque was named after the first president of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2004 before the Mosque was completed.

Grant Mosque is 3rd biggest Mosque in the world and the biggest in AEU (the biggest Mosque in the world is the Great Mosque of Mecca). However, it took 11 years to finish it to finally be ready to open in 2007.

Building complex measures approximately 290 by 420 m (950 by 1,380 ft), covering an area of more than 12 hectares (30 acres). Over 3000 workers and 38 contracting companies participate in the Mosque's construction.

The construction features 82 domes and more than 1,000 columns. The Mosque's minarets combine Mameluke, Ottoman and Fatimid styles to fuse diverse Islamic architectural styles into one expression of art and beauty.

The Mosque has four minarets, each approximately 106 meters tall. Each minaret is comprised of three different geometric shapes. The first is a square that forms the minaret's base. Its architectural style reflects that of Moroccan, Andalusian and Mameluke styles.

The second section of the minaret has an octagonal shape, a design that goes back to the Mameluke era (13th to 16th centuries).

The third section is cylindrical, a design element from the Ottoman era (14th to 20th centuries).

The crowning lantern covered with gold-glass mosaic returns to the Fatimid age (10th to 12th ).

I must admit that this architecture is breathtaking, but that's not all. There is more to see.

The most treasured possessions are located in the main prayer hall.

One of them is chandeliers. There are seven crystal chandeliers made by Faustig Manufacture of Munich, Germany. The largest is 10 metres across, 15 metres tall and weighs 12 tonnes. Two smaller versions of the same design are also in the main prayer hall. These weigh 8 tons each.

Another one is a single-piece, hand-craft, the most giant carpet in the world. It covered an area of 5,627 square meters and was hand-crafted by approximately 1,200 artisans. It used 38 tons of cotton and wool. The total project took nearly two years, including eight months for the design and 12 months for the knotting. It was designed by a third-generation carpet maker and artist from Iran -Ali Khaliqi. The rug weighs 12 tons. It was so heavy that it had to be dismantled, flown in on two aeroplanes, and re-stitched on arrival.

Hi everyone.

I wasn't here for ages.

Covid really messed with my well-being. I lost my passion for photography. For months my camera was in the bag covered with dust.

Eventually, I took it out but even then I wasn't happy. I didn't have the motivation to write, edit, to do anything.

I think finally I broke my stagnation.

It is the first post after a really long time. I hope you will enjoy going with me to St.Paul's Cathedral in London . Enjoy:

Since we have a little bit more time I decided to finally read all books I have in my house. Book is a last one I had purchased. It is a collections of tips and advice but also stories and anecdotes from successful photographers. Each page is dedicated to a different photographer. It is very interesting book.
If you already read this book, let me know what is your opinion :)

After long time I bought :) I could not resist
