Tonight as I came home to my little corner of Dartmoor, it was just in time to see the sun setting over the season’s first cornflowers in the hedge. Above it all, a freshly arrived migrant swallow playfully darted and swooped over the barn. I’ve never felt more at home anywhere in my life.

Once Autumn takes hold on Dartmoor, my far reaching studio views mean that I’m treated to regular light and colour shows… so here’s to the start of another rainbow season!

The sun and moon rise in exactly the same place opposite my gate. I often stand there to see this scene and can’t help but think of the sun and moon as star-crossed lovers, eternally chasing each other across the sky. Rarely having the chance to meet for a kiss or a quiet conversation. But when they do, it’s quite a spectacle.

So happy to be speaking this weekend. Kicking off today, I’m talking on the editing stage about editing on a smartphone at 11:15am, giving the first preview of the tips from my brand new book. At 3pm I’m speaking on the Analogue Spotlight stage about my 20 years of experimental photography in my colour darkroom, and at 4pm I’m excited to be doing a book signing with CBL on stand N100. Tomorrow I’m going to be back visiting CBL so if you want a signed copy of the book come and ask them when I’m there! I will also be speaking on the Shutter Street Stage on Sunday, sharing the wonders and delights of undertaking a 365 photography project. If you’re at the NEC this weekend, come and say hi! Link to my speakers page and all the timings is in my linktree in my bio

The sunrise was beautiful this morning! I am now awake and in my doorstep at 5:30am every morning to let my puppy out to greet the day. He must have some high quality internal alarm clock because it wakes him without fail at exactly 5:20am every.single.day. I have always been a night owl rather than a morning person, so this is new territory for me, but I quite like it.

After many many weeks of much needed rain to soak the arid landscape here, there is fresh green growth evident all around. Wonderful to see the sun again over the last couple of days.

Wonderful to see last years bumper crop of acorns have germinated and taken root in the little patch of local woodland. With luck they will hopefully grow to be strong and healthy to help regenerate the woodland, which has saplings of various ages, something you don’t always see if the woolly grazers can get in to wreak their havoc!
