Smiffy's sit down pictures. Being a partial parapligic I'd fall over if I stood up & took pictures so I take my pictures sat down (Hence the name )

After a motorcycle accident in 1998 I became a partial parapligic so use a wheelchair more often now a days.

Last pictures from the bikes at Longnor Sports. 🏍️📸

Fantastic riding from all the competitors, especially with the ground getting so slippery as the day went on. They certainly put on a great show and gave the crowds plenty to watch.

The overall winner of the Handicap Race was Jake Hunter, with Luke Meredith taking the group A win.

A great day's racing and some brilliant action to finish off the pictures. 👍🏍️

Big thanks again to everyone involved in putting Longnor Sports on — already looking forward to the next one!
Hope you enjoy my pictures as much as I love taking them. 😎

Longnor Sports bikes part two.
The drizzle got a bit heavier, the grass soon started to turn to mud. By this stage the ground had really started to get slippy.

All the riders did really well to get around, especially in those conditions, and still managed to put on a great show and really entertain the crowds.

Longnor Sports. Set off well enough, but as the drizzle got a bit heavier the grass soon started to turn to mud.
Didn't seem to bother the riders though, and there was still plenty of action going on. Some great racing as always and, of course, plenty of pictures taken! 😂📸

I've split the pictures up as there are quite a few, so rather than fill everyone's feed with 100-odd photos in one go, I'll put them up in a few posts.
So here's the first lot… enjoy!

Just sat down with a coffee, Radio 2 on in the background, and around 325 bike pictures to work my way through from our day at Longnor Sports.

The morning was looking pretty good, but as 3pm approached and the bikes were due out, the sky started filling with rain. It never really came down heavily — just that fine, sneaky rain that somehow manages to get you wet without you noticing! 😂

But the rain certainly didn't stop the bikes or the crowds, and we were treated to some fantastic racing as ever.

A big thank you to everyone on the committee and all those behind the scenes who put the Sports Day together. I know it's never easy organising an event like this, but the end result is always very much appreciated.

Another brilliant day at Longnor Sports..

Longnor Sports 2026.
Before the main cross country fell race there was the junior race.
This could be the start of a career in running that could last a life time?🏃🏃🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️
Good turn out for it & even stopped raining for them. 😎

Longnor Sports 2026.
The weather played a big part of the day with constant drizzle for the motorbikes, but it eased off for the fell runners. Still wet & muddy under foot though.
Unfortunately I didn't get a programme so don't know any names, so please tag folk if you know. Thanks.

Longnor Sports is on tomorrow, (Thursday.)
If you've never been before it's one of those days you should go at least once in your life.
Unfortunately the "Harness" racing has been cancelled as there's a problem with some horse stables.
Here are some pictures of some as there won't be any this year which is a shame.

Last lot from Newcastle. We had a couple of reasons for going. But now we've been we'd like to go back as there's still loads of things to see & do.
Did you know it is England's northernmost city.?
The first recorded settlement in what is now Newcastle was Pons Aelius ("Aelian bridge"), a Roman fort and bridge across the River Tyne. It was given the family name of the Roman emperor Hadrian, who founded it in the 2nd century AD. This rare honour suggests Hadrian may have visited the site and instituted the bridge on his tour of Britain.
The extent of Hadrian's Wall was 73 miles

With the weather looking overcast on day two we were given some local advice from "Geordie Dave" who isn't from Newcastle but from South Shields (spose it sounds better than "South Shield Dave"?) Setting off from South Shield which is a coastal port town in South Tyneside along the coast road to Sunderland we stopped in Seaburn for some dinner before heading back through Tyne Tunnel Toll (Northbound) £2.60 which was very busy.
