It's been a while, but I had two days off and saw Dartmouth was looking foggy. I jumped in the car for a sunrise session at Gallants Bower to see the bluebells. This little tree on the hill is easily my favorite subject there, especially during their brief flowering season.

After months of waiting for the Milky Way and finally getting some prime conditions, I headed down to a spot on the South Devon coast I’ve had marked for a while: the West Soar Admiralty Signal Station. It’s a bit of a mouthful, but these stations were once used to spot French ships along the coast.
It wouldn’t be a late-night adventure without some mishaps, though. Between a long day at work and a 1 a.m. alarm, my brain was definitely foggy. I managed to accidentally wander into someone’s private garden instead of the (now very obvious) footpath (sorry) and even got spooked by a badger! I was definitely rusty after the winter break and spent a while fumbling in the dark for a composition, but I persevered and came away with something I’m happy with. A long lie-in this morning was definitely needed! 🥱

Good morning everyone! I headed down to Ayrmer Cove yesterday evening after keeping an eye on the clouds out the window and on the satellite. Luckily the bank of cloud stalled perfectly over the coast, leaving a beautifully clear, glowing horizon.

Yes, my feet got absolutely soaked, but with the tide coming in and wanting to get fairly close without using a zoom lens, it was worth it. I thoroughly enjoyed the soggy feet… although in hindsight I probably should’ve just taken my shoes off 🙄. Crocs might still be a wise investment! 😄

Headed up to Burrow Mump for the traditional birthday sunrise shoot, yesterday. I always make a point of picking somewhere special each year. last year was Corfe Castle, the year before Teignmouth Pier with an unreal sky, and somehow I’ve never had a bad one yet.

It’s officially a tradition now… although I’ve probably just cursed next year by saying that.

Felt good to be back out, welcoming in a new day and enjoying the middle of a week off work in the best way possible

I swear. I rarely do the cheeky sunstar thing, but I figured why not mark the rare appearance of actual sunshine?

Gulls were also paid actors too. (I'll share the no-flare, no-birds version tomorrow!

Start point lighthouse, Shore & Moor Photography and I attempted this one last year it was a tad tricky climbing the steep cliffs, negotiating with the weather and that bleeding light 🤣 anyway I totally forgot to take a foreground image and merge the sky and said foreground together, so I just stacked the sky and left the foreground as is, this is a single stacked shot not a composite, 375 seconds combined, cannot wait to try this one again and sort that lighthouse out 😅
