What a lovely morning down on Polperro beach

The harbour was sparkling in the sunshine as people gathered to watch the Tug O’ War competition — a great bit of community spirit and fun.

A huge well done to everyone who took part, but special congratulations to the winners, Pelynt Young Farmers 🏆

It’s moments like these that make living in this part of Cornwall so special — traditions, friendships, and the whole community coming together to enjoy a beautiful day by the sea.

Popped down the road yesterday to watch the opening procession of the Polperro Festival, and what a lovely atmosphere it was.

There’s something really special about seeing a village come alive, with everyone getting involved and enjoying the moment. I had a chat with a few holiday makers in the pub afterwards, and they were absolutely delighted that they’d stumbled across the event and were already looking forward to finding out more about what the rest of the week had in store.

It’s moments like this that remind you how lucky we are to have such wonderful communities and events right on our doorstep.

I was sad to hear of the passing of the incredible english artist David Hockney.

When I was at college, we were given a photography assignment inspired by his famous “Joiners” — a technique where multiple photographs are pieced together to create one image, challenging the traditional way we see and capture a moment.

I chose to create my own Joiner of my neighbour Mavis — a beautiful soul, sitting in her conservatory, reading a book, enjoying a cup of tea and biscuits.

Looking back, this image feels even more special. Hearing the news about David Hockney made me think of Mavis and remember what an amazingly supportive, talented and wonderfully diverse person she was.

She had stories, kindness, curiosity and a way of making people feel valued. Capturing that moment wasn’t just about creating a photograph — it was about preserving a tiny piece of someone’s world.

It’s moments like this that remind me why I love photography. A photograph can become so much more than an image; it can hold memories, emotions and the people who shaped our lives.

Thank you, David Hockney, for inspiring so many photographers and artists to look differently, and thank you Mavis for being one of the people who made my world a little brighter. ❤️

Do you have a beloved four legged friend you want to capture and celebrate forever?

The quiet companionship.
The routines.
The muddy walks.
The early mornings at the yard.
The way they somehow know when we need comfort most.

They become woven into the story of our lives in the gentlest and most ordinary ways, which often turn out to be the most important.

Photographs of our four legged friends are never really just about the animal itself. They are about love, trust, friendship and the small moments we never want to forget.

Paws, hooves and hearts ❤️, get in touch if you want to celebrate your connection.

There’s something about this age where everything feels worth stopping for....

Leaves become treasure, bugs become discoveries and time slows down just enough to notice.

This is what I look for in a family session
Not perfect poses, just real moments of curiosity and connection.

If this feels like your kind of family thing, get in touch.

The goal?
Not perfect behaviour.
Not forced smiles.

Just children feeling safe enough to be themselves.

They weren’t sure about me at first—and honestly, that’s completely normal.

These two came to the park with their aunty. The family wanted something simple… just the two of them, playing together.

No pressure.
No posing.
No expectations.

So we didn’t start with photos.

We played. We talked. I asked about their favourite things.
I noticed the small moments and told them—
“that was brilliant,”
“you’re really good at that.”

And slowly, something shifted.

The trust started to build.
They relaxed.
They began encouraging each other.

And before long…
they forgot about the camera completely.

That’s always where the best photographs begin.
