Ellie & Rico — Scottish stonework, Ghanaian tradition, and some beautiful evening light in the Highlands.

From their quiet cathedral ceremony earlier in the afternoon to slipping into traditional Kente cloth as the sun dipped behind the stone, this was such a special one to be invited into.

They are two of the kindest, most genuinely welcoming people, and witnessing their grounded, sweet connection throughout the day was a joy and honour in itself.

It’s been a full and incredibly rewarding month of weddings, and documenting Laura and Kerr amidst the gardens and stone towers of Carlowrie Castle was a perfect example of the type of warmth and glow this season brought.

This season has only deepened my appreciation for the nature of this work.

The beauty of these moments and the trust that has to exist within them to allow a wedding to feel and flow naturally never fails to touch my heart.

It’s truly poignant what happens when moments are left untouched and simply allowed to breathe. What’s witnessed, experienced and felt.

Ellie & Rico married a week ago today in the Highlands of Scotland Coos’ Cathedral and were my final summer season wedding this year. What a pair to close on.

Maybe it’s the mornings spent with ten minutes of Downton Abbey and a green tea. The hours wandering quietly through heritage estate venues on wedding days and during private visits or being curled up with a book and the fire going on rainy afternoons. The walled garden wandering, Jane Austen novels, Charlotte Brontë atmospheres, or the slow romantic films I grew up with.

Maybe it’s the Nancy Meyers moments, the real family laughter around dinner tables, the countryside home we’ve lovingly renovated, or the golden spaniel paws clicking on the floor beside me each day.

But something about this work has always lit me up from the inside out.

Not only because weddings are beautiful, but because of the real human stories within them — the connection, the history woven through old spaces, the tiny moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.

The small smile as a gown receives its final touches.
The lift of a veil during the quiet opening moments of a ceremony.
A soft pause as a couple wander gently through the gardens of a historic private estate together.

And perhaps it’s Scotland and Europe themselves too.

The warmth.
The history.
The welcome.
The vast landscapes, rolling hills and endless greenery.

All of it quietly fuels the observant nature of my work and the way I’m drawn to the smallest moments — the ones that truly feel quite magical.
