7 miles walk (by going the wrong way) to the amazing Whiteford Lighthouse. A bleak and rainy day. The UK’s last remaining lighthouse built at sea. (The others you see are either on a pier or rock). This cast iron relic is slowly receding into the sea.

What is your opinion on AI in photos?

AI means so many things to so many people. It’s a helpful tool which provides shortcuts and efficiencies in many aspects of human life. However, it is “artificial” and for artistic and creative purposes, artificial is not what we want. Is it more artificial than algorithms and technology in applications such as photoshop? When you hang your AI image on the wall, is there a little guilt that you really didn’t create this yourself.

This image has AI elements. I liked the spot and the composition, but there was a big log reflecting sunlight on the right, so I asked AI to fill that area with more ferns. Now, the ferns look obviously fake to me because I know they are. What are your thoughts?

On one hand, I still had the experience of taking the image, but on the other, this isn’t what I saw.

I appreciate of course that there is artwork that is proudly AI and made using a creative workflow interacting with AI tools much in the same way as other artists use applications, pencils, brushes and even cameras for that matter.
