Simon Crawford is a portrait and documentary photographer, based in Glasgow’s West End, specialising in portrait and nightlife photography with a style consisting of colourful and energetic imagery. While he specialises in portraiture, his work also includes fashion and documentary styles - all of which have a connection to the main themes within his work. He worked for a decade in Belfast, docume
nting the LGBT scene and working with a wide variety of creatives throughout the fashion, art & performance sectors. He’s been published internationally, in Beyond Man: Volume One, Pink Mince, Crotch!, GNI Magazine & What White Elephant. As well as publishing his own magazine “BAKE”, in 2014. As part of Outburst Queer Arts Festival in Belfast 2012, he produced an exhibition titled “F.Q.U.: Framing Queer Ulster”, a collection of LGBT portraits from 2009-2012
His subjects have included men, women, drag queens, artists, actors, musicians, freaks, jedi knights, party boys and glamorous creatures.
“People fascinate me; who they are, what they look like, where they're from and why they do what they do.”
Capturing this has always been what he aims to achieve within his work, using aspects of the subjects personality and own creativity to influence the outcome. You can find me here too:
