I’ve been a keen hobbyist photographer for the past 5 years, My main area of work is within the Landscape and Wildlife community. Growing up my parents would often take me and my brother and sister on holiday somewhere in Scotland each year. It wasn’t until
Covid restrictions started lifting that i truly got the photography bug and from there my love for exploring the great Scottish outdoors began. My trips include the NC500, Isle of Skye, Orkney, Isle of Harris and Lewis, Isle of Barra and many other places so far…. As time went on i started to think as a photographer that there are always two people in every picture: The photographer and the viewer. Photography for me personally, gives me both a point of connection to what I’m shooting, be it an epic landscape or beautiful animal and an escape from the hustle and bustle of busy life at times. Its an excuse for me to be somewhere i don’t usually belong immersing myself in that special moment. When that moment happens in front of me and appears to be particularly special or unique, I try to feel it, then try to capture it. Sometimes i need to remind myself, To “Enjoy the moment” through my own eyes instead of just “Through the lens”, It must be the photographers curse, More scared in missing the perfect shot than enjoying the moment too! Whenever I’m out with my camera i think, I wonder what people feel when looking at my pictures? Is my work giving them the same sense of feeling that i get when out in the field? If you see something that moves you, appreciate it, capture it, remember it, love what you do
