Frankly not enjoying the heat but we had a lovely lunch at The Boathouse and the water gave cool vibes.

Llwynsgawen or more accurately the dilapidated outbuilding on the site behind the house there. Just down the road from my childhood home, also in Penboyr.
Yr heol yn arwain ar hyd Penboyr, yn agos i Bant y Crug, lle cefais fy magu. Hiraeth heno eto. Hiraeth am blentyndod â fu, amser maith yn ôl. Cyfnod diniwed ger pentref Cymreig, lle diogel gyda’r trigolion yn adnabod a gwrchod eu gilydd. Yr hen adeilad yma yn cynrichioli sefydlogrwydd, hen ond yn ceisio cadw’n sefyll.

Front end Friday (with a couple of other angles!) . This Austin 1100 was seen recently at a meet at Grantham’s Wyndham Park, where the owner was really engaging and happy to chat about the car’s history. I think I’m correct in thinking the car was originally inherited by two young brothers, but may have been a bit sedate for modern youths! The current owner likes to show his car, and I am pretty sure I’ve seen it on some sort of social media before.
AD016 (the British Motor Corporation’s code name for the 1100) was produced between 1962 and 1974 by BMC (British Motor Corporation) and British Leyland as the company subsequently became in 1968. Sir Alex Issigonis, of Mini design fame, hoped to attain similar success with this larger car, aimed at the small family market. Like the mini, and other BMC produced cars, the AD016 was badge engineered heavily, with virtually identical Morris, Wolesley, Riley and MG variants built, including the Riley Kestrel. There was also an upmarket Vanden Plas edition. The model here is the most basic model, the classic 1100 in what appears to be the famous BMC/Leyland Harvest Gold colour. The car’s simple but nicely flowing lines were penned by Pininfarina, the same design house responsible for the larger AD09 Farinas (later updated AD038) like the Austin Cambridge and their bigger counterparts the Austin Westminster and Wolesley 6/99 and 6/110s (AD010).
The AD016 was frequently best selling British car until the early 1970s when it was replaced by the Allegro.
