PLEASE READ IF YOU INTEND TO BOOK A NIGHT AT THE BADGER HIDE-NEW FOREST
BADGER PHOTOGRAPHY HIDE (New Forest)
(Booking is essential)
1. Persons enter the property of Badger Hide entirely at their own risk as Badger hide will not accept any responsibility for any damage or injury to persons, vehicles or equipment whilst on their premises.
2. This is a purpose built hide and reflection pool for the photography of badgers.
3. The hide is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from April 1st until 31st October.
4. The hire of the hide is for all night but you are welcome to leave when you have had enough.
5. I suggest that photographers turn up 1 hour before dark so that we can set up in the light.
6. There is a kettle and tea, coffee, milk and sugar supplied.
7. There is a chemical toilet adjacent to the hide.
8. Parking is on the gravel area in front of gate.
9. I can cater for up to 2 photographers.
10. Each photographer is equipped with 4 flashes connected to their cameras via a wireless transmitter.
11. I have transmitters and flashes for Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus, Fuji and some Panasonic cameras.
12. As the badgers are only 5-6 meters away I suggest lenses that have a focal length of 100-200 for full frame sensors and 70-150 for crop frame. Zoom lenses that include these focal ranges are best.
13. I advise that no perfume or aftershave to be worn as badgers have great sense of smell.
14. It is imperative to keep quiet as they have very good hearing and easily frightened away.
15. As there are no badger setts adjacent to the hide, the badgers are attracted by food.
16. As the badgers are totally wild there is no guarantee as to when and how many will turn up.
17. I do have torches but probably best if you bring your own for when you leave if it’s in the dark. ( most mobile phones now have torches built in).
18. Please leave quietly and close all gates behind you.
19. The charge for 2026 is £110-00 for one photographer and £200-00 for two photographers sharing the hide.
20. Payment by cash or bank transfer.
21. Hides can get very cold so make sure you have suitable clothing preferably rustle free to keep noise to a minimum.
