How much do you think about how you make your first impression? When you walk into a job interview, a meeting with a potential client, or a prospective business partner? Whether consciously or not, you probably make sure you are clean, tidy, well dressed and smiling.

Of course, it’s more than likely that someone’s first impression of you is made without your being there - your headshot on LinkedIn or website will be pulled up before you meet. And a decision based on your photo? That’s made in 1/10 of a second. Which means you’d better get it right…

We’d suggest no more snaps down the pub with a pint in your hand. You might think it says fun-loving and easy going. It might also infer other adjectives that aren’t so positive. Maybe something well lit, with a clear background, and deliberately composed could still give the same relaxed feeling but more professional. And if you’re not confident doing it on your own, we’re only a phone call (or email) away.

It's good to get out of your comfort zone and even better to get out and support an incredible local charity...

We don't normally photograph gigs (the people we normally photograph on our stages tend to be less, erm, dynamic), but The Basement Door do amazing work giving opportunities in the music industry to young people - and Saturday was the final of their battle of the bands 🎤 🎷 🥁 and we wanted to support them.

Here are some photos from the evening and the fabulous bands involved - congratulations to them all, especially the overall winners: The Badgers

A quick video so you can peek a little behind the scenes - we were asked if we could also do some green screen filming while taking some headshots at a client's office.

Of course we can! Who needs a bespoke studio with floor to ceiling chroma key green? Not us (although we'll accept donations if anyone is giving one away).

To be clear: this is not the client's video. This is us having some fun with the raw footage to see how these things work (if you've been living in a cave for the last 50 years...)

Earlier this month we were back on the road and back at the Expert Forum we've been covering since 2018 (so we're obviously doing something right). And for the first time, it wasn't in London - so we dragged ourselves (and our equipment) to lovely Frankfurt. (nb we didn't see any of Frankfurt, bar the inside of the - admittedly very nice - hotel. Except in the taxis from and to the airport...).

As ever, it was a privilege to document the oncology experts presenting and discussing the latest advances, and to see the delegates networking and chatting.

We love covering these events (and providing the same-day slide show so the delegates could see themselves on the big screens as they left the auditorium!), and would love to chat to you if you're planning or managing an event - allow our photography and video to elevate make your hard work look its finest.
