Sue Kennedy Photography

Sue Kennedy Photography I help busy parents slow down long enough to really see the love they’re building.

I help parents with young children pause and celebrate the love they’re building so they can feel proud, calm and uplifted every time they see the photos in their home - a daily reminder they’re doing an amazing job and creating a joyful childhood. With a calm, child-led approach and years of experience working with little personalities, I create artwork that becomes a daily reminder of connection

, pride and “this is us.”

My riverside studio at Parndon Mill offers the breathing space families rarely get in everyday life. Whether we’re outdoors or in the studio, the experience is relaxed, guided and fully centred on what matters most to you. If you want artwork that lifts you on good days and steadies you on the hard ones, I’d love to guide you.

Society expects us to parent like we don't have a job, and work like we don't have kids. So we learn to do both halfway - and feel guilty about all of it.

New on the blog: why mothers struggle to slow down, even when they desperately want to.

The hardest part is usually deciding to do it. Everything else? Handled.

You’re still getting to know each other.
And there’s beauty in that.

This isn’t about the perfect pose.
It’s about the quiet look your baby gives you when they recognise your voice.

It’s the way you hold them without thinking.
The way you’re becoming ‘us’.

This is what I capture.

Your phone is brilliant at capturing moments. It’s terrible at keeping them visible.

That’s not a technology problem. It’s a design one. Phones are built for volume. Artwork is built for presence.

If you’ve been meaning to do something with all those photos - maybe the answer isn’t a better album app. Maybe it’s a wall.

Worried your child won’t “co-operate”?

Honestly, nearly every mum I meet says this.

Here’s the secret: I don’t need perfect behaviour. I build the experience around who your child actually is - shy, loud, busy, deep in an imaginary world… all of it.

I create artwork that shows the bond you already have.

During the design consultation - when families see their portraits on a big screen for the first time - I often hear this:

"I didn't realise how special this stage was until I saw us together like that."

Not because the portraits are beautiful (though they are). But because seeing your family, all at once, makes you feel something you hadn't quite let yourself feel in the middle of the chaos: pride. In your people. In this imperfect, exhausting, incredibly full chapter of life.

One of the things parents tell me most often is: “I didn’t realise how much I needed this until I saw it on the wall.”
Not because the portrait is perfect.

Because it reminds them of something they already knew but hadn’t seen reflected back at them - how much this relationship means.

That’s what artwork does that a phone screen can’t.

Parenthood started with a bump; you stayed strong, but you don’t have a photo of you and your daughter that you actually like.

And sometimes the reason isn’t time.

It’s that the early days trained you to be the steady one - the one who copes, manages, holds it together.

So even when life is calmer now, your body still remembers.

And it can feel strangely vulnerable to step in front of the camera and just… *be with her*.

If that’s you, you’re not alone. And you’re not late.

Honestly, nearly every mum I meet says this.

Hi Mums 💛

Midweek reminder for the mum who’s been scrolling back through her phone and feeling like she left it too late.

You didn’t.

Yes, the newborn days are behind you. But what’s here right now - the expressions, the personality starting to come through, the way your baby looks at you - this is a chapter too.

And it deserves to be remembered just as much as those first tiny days.

This week I’m gifting five Mother & Child Portrait Experiences worth £225 as part of Small Business Week - a relaxed, unhurried photographic experience built around you and your child, exactly as you are right now.

No pressure to have it all together. No perfect outfits required. Just you, your child, and the love that’s been there all along.

Drop SBW in the comments, and I’ll send you the details 💛
