It has been a while since I updated this page. Recently, a few couples mentioned to me that my style is very distinctive, so I am taking a little time to share my thoughts on wedding portraits. Here is a recent session at Bilton House and beneath the cherry blossoms at The Stray (although the blossoms were mostly gone by then, they still provided a beautiful backdrop). 😊

I have never been one to simply rely on the existing conditions of a venue or blindly use a wide aperture to blur out the background. Instead, I prefer to actively shape the light to create the vision in my mind, sculpting the relationship between the couple and the venue. This approach is technically demanding, but the reward is high. It is how an image becomes a timeless piece of work, rather than just a casual snapshot.

To me, a wedding is a once in a lifetime story. What I strive for isn't an "ordinary" "lifestyle" record, there are already plenty of those captured throughout the rest of the wedding day. My definition of a Wedding Portrait is a timeless masterpiece worthy of being hung on your wall at home.

Looking back at the memories from last year, I am still deeply moved by the gentle, pure essence of the cherry blossom season.

The most captivating thing about spring is its fleeting beauty that kind of magic that can never be replicated. The smiles and warm moments captured amidst the falling pink petals have become some of my most cherished memories. It is this very magic that has inspired me to bring back these Mini Sessions at The Stray, to once again record stories of love, family, and togetherness.

My focus remains on delivering a timeless, cinematic quality. Through meticulous post-processing, I ensure every shot captures the true essence of your day with a polished, professional finish.

Beyond the daily grind, there are always creative sparks waiting to be realized. I finally carved out some time for a "personal project" a piece of homework for myself.

This was my first venture into using color gels. While my professional work usually leans toward the classic and timeless, I wanted to explore how vibrant filters can redefine an atmosphere and inject a unique, high-recognition soul into an image.

However, it was also a psychological battle with light. With color gels, the margin for error is razor-thin; the balance of each hue and the subtlety of transitions demand total precision in both lighting intuition and artistic logic. With only one hour on the clock, managing the placement and interplay of 2-3 lights pushed my mental focus to the absolute limit.

This project served as a vital benchmark, showing me exactly where my craftsmanship stands today. I look forward to experimenting with even more complex setups next time. 😊
