I had this hand dyed merino wool voor few years and didn't know what to do with it. Till few days ago, when I got inspired to crochet "bags" around these small ceramic pots, so they can be used to put keys, or anything one wants, in them.
The key charms (if they could be called so) can serve as a decoration, or to be used. On the one on the picture below I added chrysocolla, a stone of harmony. Used to purify a place or remove negativity from a person - just the right one to have attached to the keys :)

My Barnacle buttons just arrived - custom made in White Russia. It's not easy to find someone to make them in smaller quantities, and I had for years a great supplier from USA, but unfortunately recently the shipment became extremely expensive. So now Evgenii became the guy who is crafting my Barnacle buttons :)

Today I finished 3 lovely bags for diaries, (note)books, or whatever one would like to carry in them.

The base is 100% cotton yarn, crocheted in basic Tunisian stitch. On top I did some decoration with needle felting, and I added on the side of the bag a couple of tagua beads. The big button which is "locking" the bag, I found in a charity shop in Cornwall about a year ago - there were buttons left from some haberdashery which was long gone. It is from the 70's, I guess, and very pleasant to the touch - like the rest of the bag, actually :)

Haven't written for ages... Such a shame. Moving to a new house, too much work, lots of travel. Today I am also leaving for a short surf trip to Portugal.

In the meanwhile I am still crocheting, collecting books (love that 70s macrame books), and trying new things. Also, since about half year I am so happy to donate some of my projects to the wonderful League of Friends shop of Derriford hospital in Plymouth - the place where my partner had a heart procedure last winter. I met there great people, so kind and dedicated. I will keep on sending my beanies, scarves, bags, etc. with pleasure, knowing that they will make someone happy by adding more colour to his/her life

Crocheting free style - going mad with yarn :)
It's nice way not only to use up all different left overs, but also to let your imagination go wild - everything is possible!

Did I mention yesterday that I am not including in my Happy Chain Reaction project just beanies and scarves? I hope you don't think I will try to sell (only) winter stuff in the summer. Though, I hope there are more people like me out there, who love buying winter clothes in the summer, and other way around.

So I want to show you few other, more summer things I will bring to Bulgaria. O, and that Barnacle cards with the text in Cyrillic, I told you about yesterday. On the back of the card I chose to put a photo I took in South Morocco about two years ago, at place called Dwera, but known by the surfers there as the Machine Guns. It was one of these flat days, the ocean was like a gigantic blue mirror, reflecting the sun above it. So we went to look for some waves, and ended up on this amazing, long beach. I didn't take my camera, and I was very sorry about that, of course. Fortunately on the way to there we stopped at a gas station, where in a small shop a guy was selling...camera's. Disposable. After he explained how the flash works (as if I would need flash in a desert aria in the middle of the day), I was ready to take my adventure pictures of that trip. In time when we take hundreds of photo's with our digital cameras, iphones etc, was quite refreshing to think carefully before I shoot, remembering that I can do it only 24 times. Well, every one of these pictures turned out to be great. Maybe because of the place, which was so photogenic, maybe because of that analog camera with film inside, which turned every image captured into a retro movie shot...or maybe was just me ;)
The result is that peace of memory which I multiplied, so it can reach more people, who might need a bit more sun, sea and smile.

Three months later. No, I didn't quit crocheting in the meanwhile. I did make lots of things, but most important - I got the idea for my new project - I call it HAPPY CHAIN REACTION :)

I collected all lovely scarves, beanies, gloves, bags etc. which I made in the past half year. I add some specials, I ordered new Barnacle cards with text in cyrillic, and I intend to take all this with me to Bulgaria (this time as a big exception I will travel with check-in luggage). I will find a charity project - actually, I almost found one. Will sell my Barnacle things to people, who will be cheerful and happy wearing them (as always happens with the Barnacle stuff), and the profit will go 100% to that project, so it will make other people happy too. Well, in short, everyone will profit from this. Isn't that great? Here a little example of something I made especially for the Happy Chain Reaction - the visibeanies (my own word), or, in Bulgarian, шапки - видимки! They are fluffy and warm, and light, and have on top a nice tagua nut beads. Look!

First of March! The spring is here (though it looks quite winter like outside).
I realised that since last year I haven't done any felting. Sometimes I just forget how much fun that is. Last weekend I was looking for something in the pantry and I stumbled across my big bag of felting merino wool. Soft, colourful, lovely wool, just waiting for me to do something with it. This can't be an accident. Recently my friend Did https://www.facebook.com/didovcharova posted her amazing felted dolls on her FB wall. Then yesterday I got this inspiring pictures of https://www.facebook.com/QuirkyArt.dk 's Beanie Birds so I guess I should grab my needles and wol again and make something sunny and cheerful.

In the meanwhile I am posting here and on Etsy some of my Tunisian bags with felted decoration. Had fun making them, but didn't document the how-to process. Will do it with the next one, I promise!
