Celebrating July the 4th and America’s 250th Birthday with a suitably exhibitionist expedition, avoiding all possible exposure to the oompah loompa…. Yes, a day out to Tewkesbury Model Railway Exhibition with ‘Penorwic’!

Managed to squeeze this slice of Snowdonia into my VW Tiguan - with ‘jump seat’ to spare for my derrière - with chauffeur service and much help / hands on deck from Dad and fellow local modellers Phil and Mat.

Really enjoyable community show with lots of local familiies enjoying a fun day out - and an escape from the heatwave / hot wave of escapism!

A few snaps following Penorwic’s latest wee road trip to the fantastic Railex Show in Aylesbury, over the baking hot bank holiday weekend. Stoke Mandeville Stadium is a mightily impressive venue (albeit bit of an oven!), and Railex attract an incredibly high quality of layouts and demonstrators so it was a huge privilege to be invited.

As always a few operational gremlins over the weekend - not least squeezing the layouts, stock & tools + 2 operators into a VW car instead of the planned van, which required some ‘carpentry’ for the baseboard frame to fit, then be reassembled 😳

But really great response from Railex visitors who particularly asked about / commented on the vertical multi-levels within compressed space; the working incline and winding house setup, the multigauge exchange sidings, and the lighting / presentation frame (which tbh does now need a bit of tarting up).

Hopefully bit of inspiration for other modellers to help find ways squeeze a bit of north wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 into a small space!
