Today's post comes from one of our guests. Thank you for travelling with us Linda - not once but three times to Kenya! Tank you for your enthusiasm in the field and for these kind words.

In our last Wild Insights blog post we made the case that photography safaris should not just be about the lions, leopards and elephants. There are so many incredible species that can for part of your safari portfolio and we feel it is important to spend a bit of time with them too, as well as the mega-fauna of course!

Photographing a wider range of species helps us learn about their contribution to their habitat and other species, this fieldcraft helps us become better guides and photographers too.

So we asked about the natural history story going on in each of the four photographs in the blog post. Some of the answers are very close, some not quite. We'll be adding our thoughts later today! Oh, and big thanks to Chuck for his incredible contribution!

In wildlife photography, common species are often overlooked in favour of impact. Many photographers become so focused on icon species.

If ever we needed a reminder then this is it! This is why we prefer the conservancies of the Maasai Mara where ours are often the only two vehicles at sightings and when rules in place for ethical behaviour are respected and followed. 🤬

Back in 2019 with Kisaru!

Back in 2019, our African Photography Safaris guests enjoyed many incredible encounters with a cheetah known as "Kisaru" and her 6 cubs. It was the first time I've seen a cheetah cub attempting to climb a tree too!
