With the scorching temperatures of the last week, I thought I'd pop this on the grid:
☀️ How to Handle the Heat on Your Wedding Day
As much as we all love sunshine, a summer heatwave can make for a long day if you're not prepared. Having photographed weddings through some very warm Cotswold summers, here are a few simple ways to stay comfortable while still enjoying every moment.
🤍 Stay hydrated
It sounds obvious, but it's easy to forget once the excitement begins. Keep sipping water throughout the morning and ask someone to remind you if needed.
🤍 Plan a little shade
If your ceremony or drinks reception is outdoors, think about where guests can escape the sun for a few minutes. Parasols, shaded seating or even a few trees can make all the difference.
🤍 Take five minutes together
The portrait session is often the first chance you'll have to catch your breath. There's no need to spend hours away from your guests, we can work around the light, find some beautiful shade and create relaxed, natural images without rushing.
🤍 Choose breathable fabrics
Lightweight dresses, linen suits and comfortable shoes can help you stay cool while still looking incredible.
🤍 Pack a few essentials
A handheld fan, blotting papers, sunscreen and a small touch-up kit are all worth having nearby. Your bridal party will thank you too.
🤍 Don't worry about perfection
A few windswept hairs or a sun-kissed glow are all part of the story. Some of the most joyful photographs come from couples embracing the day exactly as it unfolds.
Summer weddings are beautiful, and with a little planning, you can stay comfortable while making the most of every moment.
Are you planning a summer wedding in the Cotswolds? I'd love to help you capture it all; whatever the weather has in store. ☀️📷
