A drizzly, but lovely day around Wensleydale and Swaledale. Not much water in the falls at Aysgarth, but I came across this small section in the upper falls which had a decent flow.

The only one from today's wander round the block. It was a struggle because there was a bit of breeze and I had to crouch to get low enough whilst looking up and trying to hold the camera steady 😏

Jervaulx Abbey at East Witton in Wensleydale. What a gorgeous place! Abbey ruins in their natural state with wild flowers and vegetation left free to grow around them.

Join the Friends of Lancaster City Museum for an illustrated talk by Liz Howard-Thornton exploring the life and work of Thomas H. Mawson — a pioneering British garden designer, landscape architect and town planner.

Described as “unpretentious but substantial”, Mawson’s influence extended far beyond private gardens. His visionary ideas shaped public spaces for health and leisure, supported disabled servicemen returning from World War One, and created meaningful memorial landscapes for those grieving loved ones.

A fascinating insight into a compassionate Lancastrian whose legacy is still with us today.
