This week I was meant to be focusing on finishing a few of the Meditation Symphonies that are currently in progress. One is inspired by seaside memories, ice cream, all the little details that make summer by the sea feel nostalgic.

But somewhere along the way, a new idea appeared and I couldn’t ignore it. I’ve started work on a Marie Antoinette-inspired piece, which feels quite different from anything I’ve done before. I’m using a portrait as the central focus of the composition rather than an object or still life.

At the moment it’s very much an experiment, and I’m not entirely sure where it will lead. Those unexpected creative detours are often the most interesting.

A new pattern completed ✨
This one comes in three colourways, you can see it beginning to find its place within a new Meditation Symphony that’s slowly taking shape.

The design was inspired by textiles I discovered in my copy of V&A Marie Antoinette Style. I wanted this pat to be full of ornate decoration, softness and excess. I don’t enjoy how sickly sweet it feels and I kind of do.
