Just when I thought this year had peaked, Catherine & James’ wedding happened…
It was pretty clear from our pre-shoot a few months back that we were gonna kick ass. We all got on, captured some stunning photos, and honestly, it felt more like a hangout than a scary first date with their wedding photographer.
This year I’ve had the pleasure of capturing the weddings of a few couples who’ve really done things their own way — and these two absolutely nailed that.
There’s something about these smaller, more intimate wedding days that just creates such a great environment for photos. Everyone feels that little bit more connected, you get to know people properly, and you’re right there amongst it all.
We had a laugh, might have cried a few times, but what I took home from this wedding — apart from some new portfolio favourites — was the joy of meeting a couple, and then meeting all the family, friends and loved ones that make up their world.
Every connection they have, all under one roof.
For them, I imagine it must be pretty bizarre seeing all these different parts of their lives in the same place. But for me, it was just really lovely seeing all those influences, relationships and bits of history come together to celebrate them.
And for that, I say thanks, guys. What a bloody lovely day.
