New tool unlocked: Risograph printing!

I've been getting to grips with Riso lately — running test prints, pushing technical limits and understanding how colour overlays work with the soy based inks. Last week, I inducted Graphic Design first years into the process and it has quickly become one of my favourite things in the mac lab.

It's digital at its core, but don't let that fool you. Misregistration, colour overlays, ink unpredictability, all the analogue quirks are very much alive and well. Think screen-printing's chaotic, characterful cousin.

What I love most? The versatility. And the reminder that constraints and happy accidents make for better, more interesting work.

Colour play with screen-printing today. Its made me realise how infrequent I make work for the love of making. Giving myself the permission to be creative continues to be my biggest challenge, especially as a parent!

'Wishing Tree' 2023

It was great to be involved in Creative Reactions 2023 for the national festival Pint of Science on display until 1st June at the Lincoln Cathedral.

Time to sleep for the rest of the academic year... oh, wait a minute, degree show season is almost upon us. 🫣

I keep revisiting some photographs I took of the 1970s property my parents bought back in 2013. At the time, I loved the authentic decor and was drawn to the faded wallpaper which is sadly, no longer. So here it is again remade, relived and reimagined for my slightly delayed participation in the Lincoln Lodge staff art residency thanks to Covid. Looking forward to working more on this with some lighting.

The exhibition is now closed but here's some archive images of the MA Fine Art student and staff show, Emps Piece at the Usher Gallery, Lincoln April-June 2022. It was lovely to get involved for a change, mine was the dancing medieval hood on response to the Haxey Hood. 😊

Returned to my old school this week to create a large scale surface rubbing in preparation for the degree show. Next step, figuring out how I'm installing it in a smaller exhibition space...

I am happy to announce that I have been selected to be an Associate Artist for Mansions of the Future where I will continue to develop my art practice at their dedicated studios and help them to develop their art programme in 2019/20. Very excited to be involved in the project and to see how this will continue to evolve in supporting artists and the local community. :)
