Don’t make the mistake of skipping Dolmabahçe Palace when visiting Istanbul.

Built with ~35 tonnes of gold (worth $2–3B today), this level of extravagance drove the financial collapse of the Ottoman Empire… and yet, it’s one of the most breathtaking and opulent places I’ve ever seen.

Most people miss it—but you really shouldn’t. We spent over 5 hours in there exploring all the different parts and the grounds!

And finally, you can now take photos inside Dolmabahçe Palace as of early 2026.

These are my top 15 bucket list wildlife trips (so far) — with my top 5 ranked, and 10 more incredible experiences in no particular order. I started from 15 with the best saved for the last. A bonus last slide with the cutest animal ever 🥹

Putting this together has made me realise just how much I’ve already been lucky enough to experience… and honestly, I feel so grateful for it.

From witnessing the Great Migration in Maasai Mara to swimming with orcas in Norway, seeing polar bears in Arctic Canada to tracking snow leopards in the Himalayas and standing among penguins in Antarctica — these moments have made the wildest dreams of 7 year old me come true.

There are still so many unforgettable encounters I’ve been lucky to have experienced beyond this list too — from Namibia’s desert wildlife to puffins in Iceland, humpbacks in Alaska to Koalas in Australia, and everything in between.

And yet, it also reminds me how much is still out there. So many animals I still dream of seeing in the wild — tigers, gorillas, orangutans, jaguars, giant pandas, and so much more. The list truly never ends.

The natural world is extraordinary. If seeing it is something you dream about — start planning, start going, don’t wait. These experiences are always worth it. And most importantly,  ensure you're going with ethical providers and ensure your behaviours don't impact the wildlife negatively.

If you have any questions about any of these trips, drop me a comment below and I'll be happy to help.

So tell me… which ones would be at the top of your list? 🐾🌍

Afternoon tea at the Shangri-La ☕️🧁

After a busy two weeks exploring Uzbekistan and Istanbul, we decided to finish our trip on a more relaxed note and checked into the Shangri-La Istanbul Bosphorus — a peaceful escape from the bustle of the old town.

We kicked off the Easter weekend with the cutest themed afternoon tea. I don’t usually post photos of food, but I couldn’t resist sharing these!

More of the hotel coming soon, but for now we’re just enjoying being thoroughly spoilt.

Waking up to the sound of the jungle and the Indian Ocean at the same time is pretty hard to beat.

Our stay at Wild Coast Tented Lodge in Yala National Park (Sri Lanka) was honestly so special. Our little cocoon tent felt like something fit for royalty, the four poster bed, copper bath, and our own private plunge pool to jump into after dusty safari drives. And the lodge itself was so beautifully set and designed - blending into the landscape.

Step one way and the wild beach was right at our doorstep. Step the other and we were completely immersed in the jungle, with monkeys, birds, monitor lizards and wildlife all around reminding us we were very much in their world.

The food was incredible too (and it’s easy to see why the lodge has since been awarded two Michelin Keys). Every meal was delicious and full of Sri Lankan flavour.

But the real highlight was heading into Yala for game drives with the most amazing guide, whose knowledge and passion for the wildlife made every moment even more memorable.

It was one of those places that manages to feel both wildly remote and incredibly luxurious at the same time — and a stay we won’t forget anytime soon.

We've still got lots of amazing footage to edit as well as lots of wildlife photos, but for now here is a set of photos from our stay.

The ultimate guide to planning a trip to the salt flats in Bolivia.

Comment 'BOLIVIA' and I will send you the contact details of the company and guide we used for our trip.

Are you planning a trip to the Bolivia and want to visit the Salar de Uyuni? Here is my complete guide with everything I wish I knew before going - from the best time to visit to choosing the right tour and what not to miss in the desert.

I’ve been twice now, once in dry season and once in the wet season. Both times were incredible, and I am pretty sure I will go back again at some point.

I would recommend this experience to absolutely everyone – it is one of the most surreal places on Earth and a place you should see at least once in your life.

We booked with Bolivia Milenaria and they were incredible! The attention to detail was amazing!

Save this for when you plan your trip.

I’m always so grateful to travel — but moments like this remind me of the true magic of our planet and all its incredible occupants. 🌍

On World Wildlife Day, this is a gentle reminder that we share this Earth with the most beautiful creatures. We must cherish them, protect them, and be mindful of how our everyday actions impact their world.

Also, please make sure your wildlife encounters or experiences are done with responsible guides and providers who actually care. Please don’t chase, crowd, or touch wildlife — let it be on their terms, always and you will appreciatethe magic so much more.

Swipe for a month to month guide for where to go when in Europe.

Europe varies so much month by month. From iconic festivals and seasonal highlights, to quieter, off-the-beaten-track places most people overlook - Europe really has it all.

This guide helps you work out when to go where (with some less obvious destinations) - whether you’re chasing winter magic, spring blooms, summer hikes, cultural festivals or festive Christmas markets. I've included alternatives too, because we all like different things 🙂

Save this and use it as your Europe travel calendar when planning your next trip.

Which places catch your eye from this list? Let me know in the comments below 👇

Sharing a few snaps from Lake Elementaita Serena Camp.

Some weekends aren’t about rushing from one highlight to the next — they’re about slowing all the way down and enjoying a place without the crowds. This was one of those.

Outside Kenya’s famous national parks and reserves, places like Lake Elementaita remind you that wildlife and nature don’t always need to be chased. Here, it comes to you — hippos and zebras wandering past thw waterhole as you have your breakfast, sunsets melting into the lake, horses carrying you quietly along the lake shore as monkeys and other wildlife watch you inquisitively, beautiful open landscapes to drive through on a game drive, and long afternoons that drift between poolside stillness and golden-hour sundowners. We even had a yoga session by the pool and the perfect relaxing massages.

It’s the kind of place made for unhurried days: romantic dinners under the stars, mornings that start slowly, and nature experienced at a gentler, more intimate pace.

And when you do feel like exploring, adventure is right on your doorstep — hike Mount Longonot, cycle through Hell’s Gate, glide across Lake Naivasha, or wander among wildlife on Crescent Island.

A perfect reminder that sometimes the most memorable safaris happen when you stop moving so fast.

If you're planning a trip to Kenya, Lake Elementaita Serena Camp is truly something special and a great way to add a different kind of safari to your itinerary.

As we left for our first game drive, Dan asked if we might be lucky enough to see lions during our trip. My guide and I laughed and said 'Oh you'll see a few Lions' - we saw more than 25 lions in 24 hours!

It's like being on a live set of the Lion King and despite having grown up in Kenya and going on safari since I was a little kid, it never ever gets old!

If you've been dreaming of an African safari - go book that trip to Kenya!

Your guide to swimming with sea turtles in Sri Lanka.

Swimming alongside a wild sea turtle is truly magical, and it's so easy and accessible on Sri Lanka's south coast.

You don’t even need a boat — just walk in from the beach, and you'll often find them gliding peacefully in the shallows.

Swipe to learn how you can experience these gentle creatures yourself.

Our guide Oska was fantastic and is based in Polhena Beach. He provided us with snorkels, masks and fins. Mirissa and Hikkaduwa beaches are also great locations to swim with turtles.

November to April is the best time to swim with them in the south coast. But if you're going outside of that time, you can swim with them on the east coast.

Save this guide for your trip to Sri Lanka, and stay tuned for my post on watching baby hatchlings take their first steps into the ocean!

The Ayurvie Weligama by was our base for the south coast.
