Flashback Friday! “The Elsewhen Series” 2019
by Leah Marojević and Theo Clinkard

In the spring of 2019 I spent 2 days with Leah and Theo, capturing both stills and video for promotion purposes of their new works, "The Elsewhere Series”. Jumping around London to some fabulous locations we had a lot of fun, although I do remember one location being absolutely ….. a wee bit nippy!
Here are some images of 3 of the duets, the other 2 to follow another Friday.

“Modern day romantics, period dramas, projecting the present, practicing elsewhere and elsewhen, a series of day dreams and escapisms into alternatives via nature and her animals.

Across five duet scores, Theo and Leah continue the work of the Romantics by embodying their values to soften the industrial, question productivity and physically defend the dream space. Conceived to be stumbled upon by audiences in unconventional spaces, these strikingly designed duets bring the spontaneous wanderings and powerful yearnings of the heart and mind into the visible realm through duration, repetition and the naive belief that the body doesn’t have to be here, it can be elsewhen.”

Two of my favourite things, “Levantes Dance” and “The Posh Club”
Here we are at Siobhan Davies Studios.
Oh, I just love working with Eleni and her dancers & looking forward to capturing their piece “HIGH TEA (With A Twist)” tomorrow, 6th May Kings Road, Chelsea, London .london
2pm & 3.30pm Duke of York Square, Sloan Sq Tube.

“HIGH TEA (WITH A TWIST) is an immersive tea dance. Dressed to impress with matching headgear and costumes our delightful pair perform dance and acrobatics above a tastefully laid tea table and mingle with the crowd for selfies and a cuppa. Expect glittery cakes, outrageous costumes and theatrical high jinx in an explosion of bright colour and silliness.”

"The Posh Club is a glamorous performance and social club for older people held regularly in five locations across London and the South East.
Each three-and-a-half hour event is styled as a tongue-in-cheek ‘posh’ 1940’s afternoon tea with three live show business turns, volunteer waiters in black tie, vintage crockery and an in-house pianist.
It is a glamorous event for about 100 participants a week, held in the heart of the community in elegantly transformed church halls and other grass roots spaces and emphasises dressing up, regular access to live performance, social connectivity and intergenerational volunteering."

Next week at Sadlers Wells 3rd - 5th May!!! Sadler's Wells

Thank you Camilla Greenwell for taking a wee pic on my phone of me next to my pic at Sadlers, haha!

Dancers in photos
EDD ARNOLD
CHARLIE BRITTAIN
MEGHAN STEVENS

Collaborators Ryan Stafford (lighting design) Katya Richardson (music) and Stevie Stewart (costume design).

“Inspired by masters of the twentieth-century, Olivier Award winning choreographer Russell Maliphant brings to audiences a new production influenced by the works of Jackson Po***ck and abstract expressionism. The 20th century American painter was famed for his drip technique.
With elements of nature pouring to the floor, and a large steel structure, Maliphant paints his own interpretation with movement, light, and shadow to create a visually rich journey, with the exceptional dancers of Russell Maliphant Dance Company.”

Flashback Friday! 2016 ‘Movements Revisted’ - Subtle Kraft Co.

It’s always wonderful working with the fabulous Kimberley Harvey!!
(and of course Kitty and Rob) I've filmed and photographed a fair few projects over the years.
Here we are in the beautiful Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh.

Choreography: Kimberley Harvey in collaboration with the dancers.
Dancers: Kimberley Harvey, Kitty Fedorec, Robert Hesp
Including music composed by Garry Scott James
j.harvey, .as.smoke, Fruitmarket
"Moments: Revisited’ explores the remnants of memory, the different sensations and emotions that we experience in our lives and what they mean to us, as individuals and fundamentally, as people.
These moments affect the dancers in different ways leading to interactions and relationships between each of them as well as with the audience. Moments emerge and are explored; coming together and falling away like a series of threads. Until eventually, we find the stray end…”
Subtle Kraft Co. is an inclusive contemporary dance company that was co-created between dance artists and friends, Anna Emilsson and Kimberley Harvey in September 2011.
AND….
The multi talented Kimberley has just published a book.

Flashback Friday! August 2021

Had a fun time photographing this colourful show 'DANDYISM' by Patrick Ziza Dance , for Greenwich+Docklands International Festival www.festival.org

Taken from Patrick's website. www.patrickziza.com about the piece.

“Dandyism” is inspired by the gentlemen of the Congo. The appropriation of the 18th Century French and English Dandy’s flamboyance by African men was a defence and a provocation against slavery, described by some as a resistance movement. By the 1960’s African Dandyism had become a phenomenon. Through my choreography I want to embody the raw and unrefined energy and expressive dynamism of dance originating in East Africa. I want to celebrate life and cool as well as express a concern for humanism, gender and identity in our increasingly divided society. “Dandyism” is an expression of individuality. It is a statement of how African culture has and continues to influence Western culture and it says “we are here”.
