Phew - a close call today (18th July, 17:45):

Whilst testing a drone, and just by chance, we spotted a developing fire in the undergrowth/forest/woodland area of the Fels Field, Dagenham. (see drone footage below)

The fire was not noticeable (yet) from the nearby path and was more burning than smoking at this point.

Given its close proximity to nearby housing, fast action and thinking were needed. Also, the Barking & Dagenham College campus isn't that far away, either!

We confirmed visually/audibly on the ground and then called the London Fire Brigade.

Luckily, the LBF arrived shortly after and managed to put the fire out eventually. Remaining embers were also extinguished.

Folks, pls be careful out there and dispose of your rubbish/cigarettes etc. safely!
