When I moved back to Liverpool at the start of 2022, I actually had nowhere to live. A couple took pity on me and allowed me to stay in their spare room for as long as I needed. It was a gesture of goodwill and generosity that I’ve never forgotten.

So when they told me they didn’t have a photographer for their wedding party, I thought it would be criminal for me to attend and not take photos.

So I packed up my gear, jumped on a flight to Ireland, and celebrated the union of a truly special couple. Thankfully, we now have the photos to remember it by.

For me, photography isn’t just transactional sometimes it can be a labour of love, not only for the art but also for the people you’re doing it for!

All the best to you both, Hannah and Josh. Thank you for a fabulous weekend, and I look forward to seeing what more memories you create.

My cousin wanted to start building her modelling portfolio, so I offered to help and put together a very simple home setup in her living room.

Just a pop up backdrop and a single flash.

Nothing fancy, but it shows how far you can get with minimal equipment when you understand lighting and how to work with the space available to you.

You don’t always need a massive studio setup to create quality content.

I hate weddings. Hate attending them, hate shooting them. However, when an old friend asks you to document his day of love and commitment, you don't say no. And this day was special.

For some context, the reason I hate shooting weddings is because of the pressure. You’re shooting something that’s likely going to be the happy couple’s most important day to date — you can’t f*ck it up.

Shooting an educational conference has its challenges. You're often in rooms where people are engaged in meaningful discussions, and you don’t want to disrupt that by blocking screens or letting your shutter go off constantly.

A tactic I used for this was a simple “in and out” approach: don’t stay in any room longer than you need to. This way, you cause minimal disruption and maximise your time, allowing you to get around to each session if they’re taking place simultaneously.
