I tell myself—
I am okay
even when love arrives with conditions,
like fine print beneath a promise,
like sunlight caught in branches
that never quite reach the ground.

I am okay
even when my thoughts wander
into rooms others refuse to enter,
when my mind grows its own forest
and I am told the trees are wrong.

But what is “wrong,”
if not a voice that doesn’t echo?

If we all stood at the same window,
gazed across the same water,
and called the same reflection truth—
would it still shimmer,
or fall silent
under the weight of agreement?

They say
to want more light
is to admit darkness,
to chase joy
is to confess its absence.

So I sit with the shadows.
I let them breathe beside me,
speak without interruption,
exist without defense.

And something shifts—
not because the ache disappears,
but because I stop asking it to.

The water does not argue with the sky.
It holds every color it’s given—
blue, grey, fractured white,
even distortion.

Perhaps peace is not clarity.
Perhaps it is this—

the quiet permission
to remain
unresolved,
unfixed,
and still
whole.
