I was working in New York three months after 9/11. The acrid smell from the rubble, still smouldering, is something that has stayed with me ever since.
A few years later, I met Elizabeth whose husband had flown to New York for a meeting that day. She was seven months pregnant when she lost him. Their son was also called William, like my own son, and our boys were at nursery together.
That small connection made her story feel especially close to home, and brought home to me, the lives and families forever changed that day.
I still find it incredibly shocking to think about, even all these years later.
Today I wanted to share one of my photos as a small act of remembrance, for all those who lost their lives, and for the families and loved ones left behind.
Never forgotten. 🕊️ #911
