Back to colour printing old frames to test the machine and my golden eye.
Colour printing and darkroom printing in general, it's meant to direct you to perfection. Perfect colours, perfect range of blacks and whites, information in the shadows and highlights.
Photography started as a business and needs to give a profit, be efficient.
But what if we enjoy this craft as if we were rich and enjoy it for the time being. Under the safelight or in total darkness. Breathe in breathe out and relax. There's Nobody outside waiting for you, no tight deadlines. What if we stay here as a group of meditative people, stopping time and light for a few hours under this red light that minimise our alert and brings back to our body and senses.
Going back to the archive its a powerful task to do every year or every two years. It shows you all the work done.
Its like going back to my places, my moments.
This work was photographed in 2000-/+ some even before. But printed many times in different years. Every time i print them again the project comes to the present again and gets a different meaning and builds new layers of significance.
This was the grief in pictures
Now is the representation of my strength
Overcoming different difficulties in life
Some of them in total silence
Not a lot of people know
I look to this image with tender and gentleness.
The focus points to my arm and neck
The skin feels sooo soft
The neck in tension
Images are not simple past
A life is the accumulation of experiences
Overcome is not to forget
Overcome for me is to make justice
Sometimes is not possible I know
But i try to make justice and amends with myself and with others.
These images help me to protect myself in the future where I only inhabit respect.
